Kalyanpur incident: Nine bodies buried in Jurain graveyard

The bodies of nine militants killed in police raid at Kalyanpur were buried in the city’s Jurain graveyard as unclaimed on Wednesday.
Anjuman-E-Mofidul Islam, a welfare organisation, buried the bodies yesterday. The bodies of nine militants had been kept at the mortuary of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for last two months.
“After their namaz-e-janaza held on the graveyard premises at about 2:00pm on Wednesday, the bodies of nine militants were buried,” Maulana Md Shoaid Hossain, In-charge of Jurain graveyard told journalists.
They were killed during a raid in city’s Kalyanpur area by Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) and Bomb Disposal Unit of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on July 26.
Eight of them were identified as Akifuzzaman Khan, 24, of Gulshan area in Dhaka; Sejad Rauf Rouf alias Orko, 24, of Bashundhara area; Taj-ul-Haq Rashik, 25, of Dhanmondi; Raihan Kabir alias Tareque of Rangpur; Motiuar Rahman, 24, of Satkhira; Abdullah, 23, of Dinajpur; Abu Hakeem Naeem, 24, of Patuakhali; and Md Jobayer Hossain, 22, of Noakhali.
Jahangir, Inspector, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP and MD Abul Kalam, an official of Anjuman-e- Mofidul Islam received the bodies yesterday morning, said Sohel Mamud, physician and assistant professor of Forensic Department of DMCH.
According to him, five more bodies of militants killed in different raids in Narayanganj district, and city’s Rupnagar and Azimpur respectively have been kept at the DMCH mortuary, he said.
Earlier on September 22, the same charity organisaion buried the bodies of five militants and the chef of Gulshan café killed in an operation of the joint forces, were buried at Jurain graveyard.
