Night guard hacked to death in Khilgaon

Unknown assailants hacked a night guard to death and injured four others injured in the city’s Khilgaon area on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Abdus Sattar, 45, son of Akkel Ali, hailing from Chandpur district.
The injured are Alamgir, 38, Kamal, 52, Mostafa, 45, and Iqbal, 35. They were admitted to different city hospitals, police said.
Khilgaon Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Mohammad Assaduzzaman, said “About 25 assailants led by Afzal, Parvez, Jewel and Ovi attacked the project site around 1:30am. They beat and stabbed Sattar and his four colleagues mercilessly and fled from the spot. Sattar succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 7:30am.”
The incident might have taken place over a possession conflict of landed properties, the police official said.
The people at the locality were against Amin Mohammad Group’s housing project located at Balur Math from the beginning, alleged Giasuddin, a contractor of the project.
 “As they used to cultivate fish in the project site, they refused to hand over the land to the project authorities. They attacked the project site on several in the past occasions,” the Police Inspector said.
The body has been kept at DMCH morgue for an autopsy, he said.
