Nigerian couple detained on Sylhet border

Three Nigerian nationals, including a child, have been detained from about a kilometer and a half of the Tamabil land port area near Sylhet border. They were arrested on Thursday morning on the basis of intelligence information. The detainees were identified as Imnanul Nanmedi Wagawam, 42, his wife Paul Ibudi Akichukao, 26, and a three-and-a-half-year-old girl named Febur Asinachi Wagawam.
The child’s passport mentions Nigerian nationality but the address is New Delhi. A laptop, nine mobile phones, three passports, a driving license, an Indian Aadhaar card, a Nigerian NID card, 1,600 US dollars and 270 Indian rupees were seized from them.
Gowainghat Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Parimal Dev confirmed the matter and said, an intelligence team arrested three people, including a child, from the Tamabil land port area. They were handed over to Gowainghat police station at noon. Nine mobile phones, three passports, a driving license and an Indian Aadhaar card have already been seized from Nigerians. They will be questioned about whether they are coming legally or entering illegally.
