Niaz finishes 20th in Malaysian Open Chess

GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited finished in 20th position in the 12th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysian Open Chess 2015 which concluded Sunday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Niaz earned 6 points out of 9 games. FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Titas became 89th with 4 points.
In the 9th or last round games held on Sunday, IM CRG Krishna of India forced Niaz to split points, otherwise Murshed would have had a chance to be in the top ten.
 While young Fahad found the senior chess players too hot to handle as he lost to Chan Yi Meng Ryan of Malaysia.
Six players earned 7 points each; in tie-breaking system GM Vakhidov Jahongir became the champion.
A total of 141 players from 18 countries including 8 grandmasters and 27 International Masters participated in the 12th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysian Open Chess.
Hanif Mollah of Pradip Sangah became 34th with 5.5 points and M Monir Hossain of Protiva Daba Goshti finished 42nd with 5 points in another rated event of the Malaysia Chess Challenge which was held at the same place.
In last round games of Malaysia Chess Challenge on Sunday, Hanif beat Wong Yi Chee of Malaysia and Monir lost to Akhramsyah Aqil Ainuddin Nauf of Malaysia.
A total of 146 players from 9 countries participated in the rating event of Malaysian Chess Challenge.
