NGO pressures flood affected people for instalment

Losing all by flood, when the flood affected people are struggling to survive, the Non-Governmental Organisation’s (NGO) pressure for the installment is like flogging a dead horse in the Warfield.
They (NGO officials, flood victims people) are engaging with quarrel regularly over the payment issue of installment in Sylhet, Sunamgonj area.
The flood affected people returned to their houses as the flood water receded from the area. In this situation they are struggling to survive as try to rebuild their homes as well. But the NGO officials are pressuring the people for payment installment. As a result the flood victims are becoming perplexed over the issue.
Sylhet Gowainghat Upazilla resident Md Delwar Hossain took loan from an NGO. Flood has washed away his all belongings. Even his house has ruined by flood. He took shelter with his family in a shelter home. Two days earlier he returns home with empty hand. He is struggling with to manage food and build his house for his family.
Md Delwar Hossain said that after I reached home the NGO official came to my home and asked for installment. He said how I will pay their demanded money. I have no income any more at this moment.
The experienced of Hosneara Begum, Rehana Parvin, Monika das are same. Like them the flood victim people urged the authority to defer for about 5-6 months of taking NGO’s installment.
On the other hand, when asked about the issue, the NGO officials denied the allegation of forcing flood victims people for installment.
Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB) NGO’s Director (Credit programme) Ruhel Kabir said we have stopped our installment taking programme in flood affected area. There is no pressure from our head office on field level officials to put pressure on the flood victim people for installment.
 Sylhet Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Mojibur Rahman said an office order would be issued for stopping taking installment for three or four months duration.
According to the government data, about 40 thousands inhabitants have been damaged by ongoing flood in Sylhet, Sunamgonj areas. The loss of crops, domestic animals and belongings have been accede all record. About 50 thousand people still staying in shelter centers.
