Moshiur Rahman Rony, President of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JDC), Narayanganj unit, was picked up by the members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police from the city’s Paltan area on Saturday night, alleged his family members.
Rony’s younger brother Mohibur Rahman Rana said that his brother was picked up from Paltan about 10:30pm.
“An unidentified man called me on my cell phone at about 10:30pm and said, some men identifying themselves as the members of DB of Police took away my brother in a black microbus. The man asked me to contact Fatulla Police Station before cutting the line,” Rana said.
He said also that both Rony and the caller could not be reached as their mobile phones were found switched off.
When contacted, Fatulla Model Police Station and district DB office, It was said, no arrest has been made.
Fatulla Model Police OC Monjur Quader told the media, Rony is accused in a number of cases, but he was not arrested.
Additional Police Superintendent of the district DB Noor-e-Alam said that he was not aware of the arrest of Rony. Rony’s brother said that their relatives and JCD leaders and activists had become horrified as police repeatedly denied the arrest.
The victim’s brother has demanded to produce his brother in any court as early as possible.
