Radio and television newscaster Sirajul Majid Mamun passed away due to respiratory complications at a hospital in Houston, USA, at 5.41 am Dhaka local time on Tuesday. He was 73.
He left behind his wife, two sons, presently residing in the USA, and host of relatives, friends, well-wishers and fans to mourn his death.
Mamun was buried at Houston after his Namaz-e-Janaza at a local mosque there.
Sirajul Majid Mamun, an engineer by profession, started his media career as an announcer in the then Radio Pakistan in mid 60s. After that he became popular newscaster both in radio and Television. Mamun first appeared in television as newscaster in 1967.
