Minor girl killed by stepmother in Bogra

A minor girl was strangulated to death allegedly by her ‘stepmother’ at Saradhankuthi village in Gabtoli upazila on Wednesday. Locals said Mahfuza Khatun, 10, daughter of Abdul Awal, a garment worker, used to live with her stepmother at the village while her father and mother lived in Dhaka for job purpose. On Tuesday night, Rehena Khatun, second wife of Abdul Awal, took Mahfuza to the district town saying the condition of Mahfuza, who was sick, was not well and she needed emergency treatment. Later Rehena killed the girl in the dead of night and told people that Mahfuza died of sickness in the morning. On information, police recovered the body and arrested Rehena. After primary interrogation, Rehena said she gave a tablet to Mahfuza on way to returning home from the town on Tuesday night and when Mahfuza fell sick she strangled her.
One gets life- term for violating school girl in Barisal

A Barisal court on Wednesday sentenced one accused to life term imprisonment with Tk 50 thousand fine one to serve more two years in jail. The absconding lone accused of the case was Giasuddin Sardar, son of late Hosain Ali Sardar, from Santosh village under Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal.
Sheikh Abu Taher, judge of the tribunal for preventing torture against women and children, announced this verdict after examining 8 witnesses and other evidences. Ajibor Rahman, bench clerk of the court said, Giasuddin with his family members went to visit house of in laws on October 1, 2012 morning leaving a school girl and friend of his daughter for taking care of the house. However, Giasuddin returned home alone leaving his family members at the house of in laws on the same afternoon.
AC Land office broker gets 7 -day imprisonment

A mobile court has awarded seven days imprisonment to a broker when he was misleading innocent people in the name of providing services in favour of the office of the assistant commissioner of Land in Sailkupa. The arrested was Abdul Majid, son of late Yar Uddin of Bisnudia village of Sailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah. Assistant Commissioner of Land, who is also an executive magistrate in Sailkupa Sumi Majumder said, Abdul Majid had been misleading people and collecting money from some innocent people in the upazila for a long time assuring them of “quicker services”. When he was collecting money, was caught red handed on Wednesday afternoon. The drive of the mobile court will continue keeping the office of the assistant commissioner of Land in Sailkupa corruption and broker-free provide services to the people, AC Land said.
One hanged to death in Sylhet Jail

One men was hanged to death in Sylhet jail recently. Maku Robi Dash of Daragaon village in Chunarughat upazila was sentenced to death for killing his neighbour in Fifteen years ago. Senior jail super Sagir Miah confirmed the matter and said his 5 relatives including two daughter during the last meeting in Sylhet jail on Tuesday.
