Girl violated in Mongla

An eight -year old daughter of a poor man of the village Keyabunia within Chila Union under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district and a student of Class-V of a local primary school was allegedly raped by Sohag, a son of one Israfil of the same village on Wednesday afternoon. It is stated that on the day , the victim girl was playing in a field of the village with her playmates and at that time the debauched youth appeared there, allured the girl to see fine pictures recorded in his mobile and took her to a nearby isolated house where he committed raped and fled away. In this connection a case was filed with Mongla PS against the rapist under Women & Children Repression Act. The medical examination of the girl was already done but the rapist was not arrested till the writing of this report. On the other hand, the rapist created pressure on the father of the victim to withdraw the case. Shaikh Lutfar Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Mongla PS admitted the fact and said police are active to arrest the rapist .
3 robbers arrested

Police in separate drives arrested 3 robbers from Jakiganj upazila of Sylhet. Our correspondent reported that police arrested three members of an inter-district robbers’ gang in Jakiganj upazila of Sylhet early Tuesday. The arrestees are Saiful Islam, 28, Selim Ahmed, 28, and Kawsar Ahmed, 30. They hail from different villages under the upazila. Officer-in-Charge Shafiqur Rahman of Jakiganj Police Station said, a team of the law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided Machargram area and arrested the three while they were taking preparation to commit a robbery in the area around 3:00am. Police also seized some machetes and a grill cutting machine from their possession, the OC added.
Youth held with LG in Laxmipur
LAXMIPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a young man along with an LG and a cartridge from Aladatpur village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday night. The arrestee was identified as Mahbubur Rahman,19, a resident of the village. Assistant Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam, acting commanding officer of Rab-11, said tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area when some people, including Mahbubur Rahman, were gathering there for carrying out sabotage at about 11:30pm. Later, Rab force arrested Mahbubur while his other associates managed to flee the scene. The elite force also recovered one light gun and one cartridge from his possession. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
Huge Indian shares, garment items seized in Chuadanga border

The BGB personnel in Chuadanga in the early hours of Wednesday have seized huge Indian sharee, other clothings and a pick up van from Chuadanga frontier when the goods were brought from neighboring India. Their approximate price of the seized goods was estimated at Taka over 70 lakh, BGB sources said. Mohammad Amir Majid, Director of BGB -6 Battalion said, acting on a tip off, a contingent of the border guards seized 1018 pieces of Sharee, 67 T-shirts and 338 metres of plain cloths with the pick up van (Dhaka metro Na-18-8017) from Daulatganj road of Jibannagar. The smugglers sensing the BGB men presence fled the scene. Approximate price of the seized items was Taka 71 lakh. A case was filed with Jibannagar police station in this connection and the seized goods was deposited to local customs, the director said. Chuadanga BGB seized an Indian sharrees, plain cloths, T-shits laden pick up van from Jibannagar in Chuadanga on Wednesday morning.

Youth arrested with firearm, bullet
Lakshmipur : Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 in a drive arrested a youth and recovered a LG gun and bullet from Muslimabad area in Sadar upazila last night. The arrested was Mahabubur Rahman Omar, 19, hailed from Aladadpur village of the upazila. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted the drive in the area and arrested Omar with the firearm and bullet, RAB sources said. A case was filed with Chandraganj Thana in this connection, report UNB.
Seminar on Zakat held in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: A day-long seminar on the “Role of Zakat in Poverty Alleviation” was held here on Wednesday. Saima Yunus, deputy commissioner of Chuadanga, was present at the seminar as chief guest. She called upon the well off people of the society to pay their zakat money to the poor and destitute people for alleviation of poverty. She added that if the zakat money is properly paid by the rich men hundreds of poor people of the society would be lifted out of poverty, report BSS.
