The Detective Branch arrested Atiar Rahman, rebel Awami League candidate to Dhuliani union council under Chaugachha upazila in Jessore. He is contesting for the post of chairman in the forthcoming polls scheduled to be held on June 4. Mashiur Rahman, officer in-charge, Chaugachha police station told that the DB arrested the chairman candidate as he was wanted in a case. The police did not disclose details about the arrest.
Scholars home in Sylhet settles tuition fee hike

Guardians of the students of Scholarshome in Sylhet city yesterday withdrew their ultimatum as their demand of reducing the sudden increment in the tuition fees were met by the school authorities. The playgroup to class X students’ fees will increase Tk 400 from January 2017, and fees for class XI and XII will increase Tk 600, effective from July 2016, said Lokman Uddin Chowdhury, member secretary of Hafiz Mazumdar Trust. Scholarshome is an initiative of the trust.
