Nasiman- Kariman drivers stage demo in Jessore

Several hundred drivers of locally made Nasiman, Kariman and Alam Sadhu of several districts in the south-western region of the country took to the streets in Jessore town Saturday noon demanding legalizations of the vehicles in which vegetables, other goods and patients of remotes area are being carried. A mammoth rally was held at Daratana Shahid Square in support of their demands. Ashutosh Biswas chaired the rally. It was spoken among others by Chowdhury Ashikul Alam Patal, Noor Islam, Ahad Ali Lashkar, Mozammel Hossain, Naziur Rahman Nazrul, Hafizur Rahman, Abdur Razzak Master and Dr Abdul Khaleq Lashkar. In the rally, the speakers told that several thousand drivers the locally made vehicles were unemployed due ban on plying of the vehicle. The vehicles play key role in carrying goods specially vegetables in cheap rates. ‘We want to live like others’, they added.
7 Jamaat-Shibir men arrested in Bogra

Bogra police arrested 7-Jamaat-Shibir men from three upazilas on the charge of subversive activities, arson and vandalism of public vehicles during hartal, blockade on the highway called by the then opposition party. By conducting drives police arrested them from different locations of three upazilas of the district on Monday night. The arrestees were identified as Nayebe Ameer of Sherpur upazila and ex-vice principal of Sherpur College Altaf Hossain, Political Secretary of the upazila unit Jamaat Rezaul Karim Bablu, Shahbondeghi union unit secretary Enamul Haque and Shibir activist Shahidul Islam, Sramik Kallayan Federation Dupchanchia upazila unit secretary Nasir Uddin Khokon, Nandigram municipality unit shibir secretary Rakibul Hasan and Shibir activist Atiqul Islam. Contacted, ASP (Sadar and media) of Bogra police Gaziur Rahman said that they were arrested on charges of sabotage, arson and vandalism on vehicles on Bogra-Rangpur highway and attack on the poll centres of the nation poll day on January, 05, 2014. They might conduct same crime activities ahead of the verdict of Jamaat leader Sayeede and they were sent to jail on Tuesday morning, added the ASP.
3 garments officials detained with Yaba in Ashulia

Police have arrested three garments officials with driver of their car along with around 144 pieces of Yaba tablets from in front of DEPZ new zone on Thursday night. The arrestees are South china’s factory manager Md. Arifur Rahman, 37, dying manager Fakhrul Islam, 42, marketing in charge Emran, 40 and their driver Sohan, 28 hailed from DEPZ new zone’s gate.
Shariful Islam ASI of Ashulia police station said on secret information police searched their used Noah microbus, Dhaka metro- cha-518867 and rescued 144 pieces yaba tablet from their possession. In this connection a cas was filed with Ashuia police station and arrestees were sent to court.
Sylhet journos demand arrest of criminals

Journalists on Thursday condemned attack on media professionals Md. Taj Uddin in Sylhet and demanded immediate arrest of the criminals. At a sit-in organised by Dakshin Surma Press Club in front of the Sylhet-Dhaka highway in Chondipul in the Sylhet. Central AL leader Misbai Uddin Siraj, Balagonj Upazila Chairman Md Abdal Miah, Dakshin Surma Upazila Chairman Mohammed Abu Jahid, Sylhet Disrtict AL Secretary Shofikur Rahman Chowdhury, chairman Sulaiman Hossian, Ekbal Hossin, councilor Toufik Box Lipon, BNP Leader Tajrul Islam, AL leader Saiful Islam, Journalist Aftab Uddin, Kobir Ahmed Suhel, Aftab Chowdhury, Emdad Hossin Chowdhury, Kobir Ahmed, M. Ahmed Ali, Moen Uddin, S.A Shofiee among others, addressed the sit-in. The sit-in was followed by a rally with the president Jahanir Alam Musik in the chair.
Distribution of ID of registered children

Distribution of Identity Cards of registered children aiming to reducing unsafe child migration and protection of children rights going on in the two wards of Barisal City Corporation and four unions of Barisal Sadar upazila . The programme was going on by Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) under its Rural Urban Child Migration Project (RUCMP) with technical and financial assistance of European Union and Save the Children International. Holding a pres conference at Barisal Reporters Unity presided over by Shahida Parvin, training officer BNWLA, on Thursday it was informed that distribution of ID cards to the registered children started on February 24, 2014. They called to introduce the system country-wide. Masuk Kamal, area coordinator of the project, reading a progress report of the project told they introducing an unique web-based registration system and providing Identity Card to children through local government aiming to prevent unsafe child migration and promotion of rights of vulnerable migrated children. Computerized child registration cell functioning at local government units for issuing a numbered registration card containing photo and full description of the child-employee with his family, education and health back grounds, Masuk Kamal explained.
