C’nawabganj Shibir leader arrested

Police arrested a local leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student front of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, from his house at Nimgachhi village in Bholahat upazila early Wednesday. The arrestee, Sohel Rana, is general secretary of Bholahat upazila unit of Shibir and son of Jamsed Ali, a resident of the village. Abu Farhad, officer-in-charge of Bholahat Police Station, said acting on a tip-off, police arrested Rana from his house at the village at about 4:00am. The arrested is accused in a total of three cases, including for murder, added the OC.
Shrimp pollen recovered on Bhola-Barisal route

A team of detective branch of metropolitan police accompanied by administrative magistrate recovered two lakhs shrimp pollen ( Galda Renu Pona) worth Tk 4 lakhs from a truck at Dapdapia ferry ghat on Kirtankhola river Tuesday noon. Bhaskar Saha, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police (DB), said Jahangir Alam and Mahabubur Rahman, officers of upazila fishery department accompanied the team Rouf Mia, Sadar upazila nirbahi officer , forming a mobile court at the spot seized the pollen and fined 7 shrimp pollen traders total Tk 3,500. Catching of shrimp pollen restricted by fishery act to boost open water fish wealth, said fishery officials. The pollen traders led by Golam Mawla of Char Kamal Nagor, Laxmipur district, said they collecting those shrimp pollen preserved in 13 big kitchen-pots loaded on truck at Laharhut ferry ghat of Bhola for supply to shrimp farms under Bagerhut district. Later the recovered pollen were released on Kirtankhola River, the UNO said.
2 held with firearms in Jessore

Police in a drive arrested two young men in possession of a pistol from Sagorpur village in Jhikorgachha upozila of Jessore. The arrestees were identified as Raju Ahmed,25, and Nur Hossain ,26, of Sadar upozila. Surjit Kumar Ghosh, assistant sub-inspector of Jhikorgachha Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police waylaid a motorcycle Raju and Nur Hossain were riding at Sagorpur village and arrested them along with the pistol. A case was filed in this connection.
