BGB recover 7 detonators in Sylhet

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel recovered seven detonators (bomb making device) from Kanaighat border point of Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet district on Monday evening. BGB sources said a patrol team led by Habildar Montu Miah of Suraighat BOP under BGB 41 battalion searched a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the evening and recovered the devices packed with cloths from a bag, according to a news agency report. Sources said the detonators are used for making bombs. A case was filed in this connection.
Two held over attempt to violate schoolgirl

The police in Jhenaidah arrested two young men for their alleged involvement in attempting violation of a school girl on Wednesday night. They were sent to court on Thursday morning. The arrested were Tarikul Islam, 19, and Hazrat ali, 23, of Alampur village under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah. Moheshpur police officer in charge Aminul Islam Biplab said, a class nine student of Alampur secondary school was going to his private tutor in the morning of Wednesday. Four young men Tarikul, Hazrat Ali and two others stopped her movement and tried to violate the girl. Hearing the screaming of the girl, locals rushed there and rescued the girl. The father of the student on Wednesday filed a case with Moheshpur police against the four.
World Water Day observed

Kishoreganj District Administrator, Public Health Engineering Department, UNICEF, NGO Forum, Sad Bangladesh , WASH Programme Alliance and World Bank Group jointly arranged a discussion, colourfull rally, documentary film and postering marking the World Water Day. A discussion on ‘Water and Jobs’ held at local collectorate conference hall on Wednesday. Public Health Engineering Department Executive Engineer Md. Tojammel Haque presided over the meeting while ADC (Education & ICT) Golam Mohammad Bhuiyan attended as chief guest. It was addressed among others by Deputy Director of Agriculture Shafiqul Islam, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Former Press Club President Abdul Latif, Principal Professor Rafiqul Islam, Prof Pranesh Kumer Chowdhury, Senior Adv Nasiruddin Faruki, Mohila Parished District President Sultana Rajia, Sadar Upazila Vice-Chairman Kamrunnahar Luna, Gazi Monsur Rahman and Mazher Manna.
Fire affected shop owners get Tk 1.40 lakh
LAKSHMIPUR: Fourteen fire affected businessmen of Lakshmipur town got Taka 1.40 lakh financial help from the Municipality on Wednesday. Abu Taher, the mayor of Lakshmipur Pourasava, distributed cheques for the amount among the fire affected shop owners of the district town bazar yesterday. Each businessman got Taka 10,000. A total of 14 different kinds of shops were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at Chakbazar of the district town at 1:30 am on Tuesday night.
Body of new born recovered

Police recovered a dead body of a new born female baby from Pabla Bonikpara area under Daulatpur police station in the city on Thursday morning. Md. Salahuddin, OC (Investigation) of Daulatpur police station said, “Being informed by the local people, at around 10.30am Yesterday (Thursday) , police rushed to the spot at Pabla Bonikpara area and recovered the dead body of an unidentified female baby from the premises of the resident of trader Shamim Sheikh”.
