An autism school has started its journey with 24 students at Bhangura Pouroshava . Alhaj Md Mokbul Hossain MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Agriculture inaugurated the school on Tuesday. Md Wares Ali, founder of Autism school’s presided over the opening ceremony. Among others, Md Shamsul Alam,Upazila Nirbahi Officer at Bhangura, Md Abdur Rahman Prodhan, General Secretary of upazila Awami League and former mayor, Press Club President Prof. Mahbub-ul-Alam and Member Secretary of Autism school’s Md Halimuzzaman spoke on the occasion. Alhaj Mokbul Hossain MP announced that there would be arrangement for food and shelter for the virtually guardianless autistic children under the supervision of UNO Bhangura.
Manpower shortage in Sylhet environment office

Activities of the environment department is being greatly hampered in Sylhet division’s due to shortage of staff. Sylhet Division environment Office Sources said, Posts of 50 per cent of the sanctioned staff have been lying vacant for long causing much in their official activities in the 4 districts of the region, which is rich in natural environment. Hillocks, huge forests and water bodies are spread all over the north eastern region. Besides, numbers of small and medium type industries are also on increase here. On the other hand, the department has only an office at the divisional town and necessity for district level offices has long been felt by the concerned people. 12-day book fair begins
A 12-day long book fair began on the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology campus on Sunday. Voluntary organisation Swapnotthan and SUST Sahitya Sangsad organised the fair. It will be open for all from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day. On public holidays, it will open at 3:00pm to will closed down at 8:00pm. University Vice-Chancellor Aminul Haque Bhuyan inaugurated the book fair at Arzuntala on campus at about 12:00 noon. Among others, students counseling and guidance director Rashed Talukder, Institute of Modern Language director Himadri Sekhar Roy, assistant proctor Alamgir Kabir and Shamiul Islam, SUST Sahitya Sangsad president Rejaul Islam, Swapnotthan president Shakib Hossain were present at the programme..
School student killed by lightning

Yasin (8), son of one Selim Shaikh of village Charchinguri and a student of Class-II of Cahrchinguri Govt. Primary School under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district met his tragic end when a lightning flashed on him on Saturday morning. It is reported that the ill-fated boy went to his maternal aunt’s residence in the adjacent village Hizla on Friday to pay a visit there. On Saturday in the morning he went to a paddy field with his uncle. At that time light raining started and he took shelter under tree. But it is the irony of that all on a sudden a lighting struck the tree. As a result, the boy lost his sense and sustained grievous burn injuries on his person. He was rushed to Tungupara Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
