Field day for two improved varities of potato held

A day-long field day for the two new improved verities of potato held at Rainagour Spices Research Center area in Shibganj upazila of Bogra on Wednesday. The two new improved verities Allayed and Calories are virus dieses free. No pesticides use to cultivate of the two verities of potatoes. Where the local verities potato production per hector 18 metric tons here the new verities of potatoes yield up 24 metric tons. The farmer rally was held by the with ADC (Gen) of Bogra Md. Khorshed Alom in the chair while the DG of Department of Agriculture Extension Md. Hamidur Rahman was chief guest. Md. Hazrat Ali, Additional Director of the same department for Boga Zone, Chandi Dask Kundu, Deputy Director of the department and Shibganj upazila nirbahi officer Md. Aminur Rngahman were special gusts. Chief Guest Agricultural DG Hamidur Rahman said, Awami League government has announced agriculture policy after came to power in 1996. As a result all agricultural inputs including fertilizer are available. Farmers are being encouraged in agriculture, new varieties being developed and Potatoes being exported abroad. He urged farmers to earn more income to production of high yielding potato after pestilence and disease prevention.
ICT training centres open in Sadar upazila

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while simultaneously inaugurating the Upazila ICT Training and Resource Centres (UITRCEs) in Sylhet Sadar Upazilla through a videoconference at her office on Wednesday. Prime Minister said it will be easier to free this society from corruption by making the best use of technology. Sheikh Hasina said it will also be easier to implement development projects quickly, strengthen monitoring and expedite the pace of development in the country by using technology. The government with support from Korean Exim Bank implemented the project involving Tk 403 crore. Another 160 UITRCEs will be set up under the project in its next phases. The Prime Minister said the country’s education process would fully be based on information and communication technology to flourish through digital system.She said her government will set up UITRCE in every upazila to provide training to all teachers on ICT as they can teach their students in the classroom.
