Housewife killed by husband in Kurigram

One house wife was murdered by his cruel husband at Roumari upazila in Kurigram district on Thursday.The deceased was identified as Morium Begum,36 daughter of Hazrat Ali of village Baitkamari under Roumari upazila.Locals said their daughter Monwara was going for college both husband and wife exchanged hot words following the incident and at one stage of their altercation the cruel husband Hazrat Ali chopped his wife in the throat with a sharp weapon. The house wife was killed on the spot.Being informed Roumari thana police rushed to the spot and arrested the killer husband.
 Road crash kills one in Shibganj

A motorcycle rider was killed and another injured in a road mishap last night at Pukuria under Shibganj upazila of the district. The deceased was identified as Nasim Ahmed, 50, son of late Badrul Miah of Kansat Bazaar area of the upazila. Police said the accident occurred when a motorcycle hit a standing truck in the area, leaving motorcycle riders Nasim and Johurul injured. They were sent to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex where Nasim succumbed to his injuries. Johurul was shifted to Rajahahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Two held with 200 forged Indian currency notes

Police arrested two alleged smugglers with 200 fake Indian currency notes from a passenger bus at Jhalmalia checkpoint on Rajshahi-Dhaka highway under Puthiya Upazila of the district today, police sources said. The detained persons were identified as Sadequl Islam, 40, and Seher Ali, 50, both hailed from Kaligonj village under Shibgonj Upazila of Chapainawabgonj district. On a tip-off, a police team stopped a Dhaka bound bus and held them from inside the vehicle. Subsequently, the police team seized 200 fake currency notes with denomination of Rs 500 each after frisking them. A case was recorded in this connection.
Five drug traders arrested with yaba in Sirajganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 conducted raid at Bangabari area under Sirajganj pourashava this noon and arrested five male and female drug traders. RAB members also recovered 50 yaba tablets, 13 small packets of heroin powder and cash Taka 2,58,000 from their possession. Receiving secret information RAB members conducted raids at Bangabari area this noon and was able to arrest five male and female drug traders and rest were manage to escape.
Two arrested with heroin in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 in a drive arrested two drug traders along with 400 grams of heroin in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila last night. The arrested were M Sadequl Islam, 30, son of Ainal Haque of Sundarpur village and M Jahangir, 27, son of Jahidul Islam of Bhagyobanpur village both under Sadar upazila. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Shibirerhat area of the upazila and arrested the duo with the heroin, RAB sources said. A case was filed in this connection.
‘Nateshwar archeological site can attract tourists’
MUNSHIGANJ : Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor today said that the archeological site at Nateshwar could be a great source of attraction for tourists. Forensic studies proved that the ruins of an old temple and other remnants in the area were at least a thousand years old.A study done jointly by Bangladeshi and Chinese experts, was working on the site, the ministers said. The ministers were accompanied by the deputy chief of mission of the Chinese Embassy Yang Shichao, reports BSS.
