Six drug peddlers sent to jail in Barisal

Law enforcers of different police stations and detective branch of Barisal Metropolitan Police on Monday operating drives in different areas of ward 24 under Barisal City Corporation arrested six drug peddlers. Abu Sayeed, assistant commissioner and spokesman of BMP, said five among the six were arrested from a house Shahidul Islam Haoladar at Latif Khan Road under Kotwali police station. Police also recovered 93 pieces Yaba and 2 motorcycles from the possessions of the arrested. These five arrested accused were identified as Sahidul Islam Haoladar, Yasir alias Samrat Haoladar Bappi, Shahadat Haoladar Biplob, Mahmud Al Mamun Sohel, Mir Mamunur Rahman, all aged between 27-29 years.
Besides police also arrested Halim Gazi from Charabdani area under Kawnia police station of BMP and recovered 26 bottles Phensidyl from him.
Road mishap kills cop in Jessore

A police official was killed in a rorad mishap on Nawapara- Narial Road at Barni under Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore at around 11:30am on Monday. The dead was identified as Aleq Khan, 45, son of late Abdus Sattar Khan of Chhatiani village under Phultala upazila in Khulna district. He had been working as a sub -inspector at Boalmari police station in Faridpur district, said Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station. The OC told that the accident took place at Barni under Abhaynagar police station as a goods laded truck ran over his motorbike from behind killing the police man on the sport on heading towards Barial. Rushing to the Abhaynagar police sent the body Jessore Medical College Hospital after recovering it from the spot.
7 gamblers held in Sylhet

Police in a drive arrested seven alleged gambler from Miabazar area in Bishwanath upazila on Sunday afternoon. The arrested are: Kashim Aliu, 42, son of late Nowab Ullah of Chandobhorang village, Mashuk Ali, 50, son of late Tahir Ullah of Lohori village, Shilu Mia, son of Shahor Ullah, Hada Box, son of late Harun Box of Baishghor village, Shohel Ahmed, son of Shanur Ali, Chunu Mia, son of late Moyna Mia, and Gedon Ali, son of late Shadi Ullah. Police said on secrete information a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 1pm and arrested them. Police also recovered Tk 3,050 cash and seized 150 sets of cards from the arrested.
Robbers loot 3 houses in Sylhet
Armed robbers looted gold ornaments and money from a house at Kusai village in Dakshin Surma area of the Sylhet district early Saturday. Expatriate Abdul Kadir said 10-12 robbers entered his residence on the ground floor at around 2:00am after breaking the lock of the collapsible gate. They looted Tk 1,00,000 and two tolas of gold ornaments. The robbers then armed entered the first floor by breaking open the door. They beat up the house owner Ana Miah, when he tried to resist them. Khairul Fojol OC of Moglabazar, Police Station, said police visited the spot and are trying to arrest the robbers and recover the looted cash and goods. In Chattak Armed robbers looted gold ornaments and money from a house at BanaroshiPur village in Chattak area of the Sylhet district early Saturday. Expatriate Kobir Ali and Samair Ali said 10-12 robbers entered his residence on the ground floor at around 2:00am after breaking the lock of the collapsible gate.
Engineer held with 10 Yaba pills in Khulna
KHULNA: Police arrested an engineer along with 10 pieces of Yaba tablets from Zero Point area in the city on Monday night. Officer-in-charge of Horintana Police Station Mizanur Rahman said police during a routine check in the area searched the body of Nazrul Alam, an engineer of ‘Alam and Associates’, and found 10 pieces of Yaba tablets around 10.30pm. Police also arrested Nazrul Alam, a resident of Hazi Mohammad Mohsin Road area in the city. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
