One held with 350 bottles of phensidyl in C’nawanbganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested an alleged drug trader with 350 bottles of contraband Indian phensidyl syrup from Uparchakpara village in Shibganj upazila on Friday. The arrested was identified as Md. Selim Reza, 26, son of Md. Zillur Rahman of the village. Acting on a tip off, an operation team of RAB Chapainawabganj camp raided the house of one Anwarul Islam of the Uparchakpara village and found the phensidyl syrups in four plastic bags under his bed. The elite force also arrested Selim Reza from the house, RAB sources said.
2 killed in Nilphamari road crash
NILPHAMARI: Two people were killed and another was injured when a bus rammed into a pick-up van on the Dimla-Domar road at Kaliganj in Jaldhaka upazila on Saturday. A bus hit a pick-up van while overtaking in the area around 7:30 am, leaving bus passengers Jakir, 48, and Abul Kalam, 32, dead on the spot, and another passenger Saddam, 18, injured, said Obaidul Quader, officer-in-charge of Jaldhaka Police Station. Injured Saddam was rushed to Jaldhaka Upazila Health Complex, reports UNB.
Trucker pushed off to death from picnic bus in Kushita
KUSHTIA: A truck driver was killed as he was allegedly pushed out of a bus carrying a picnic party following a brawl over a collision between two vehicles at Katlamari Bazar on the Kushtia-Meherpur highway in Mirpur upazila on Friday evening. Quoting locals, police said a Bheramara-bound ‘Sakib Delux’ bus carrying picnickers hit a truck while overtaking in the area around 6:30 am. At one stage, the driver of the truck, Golam Kibria, 27, son of Abdul Wahid of Kalyanpur village in Gangni upazila in Meherpur district, had an altercation with the driver of the bus over the issue. Later, the bus driver allegedly picked up the truck driver into his vehicle and pushed him out of the moving bus at a place one kilometer away, leaving him dead. Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Doulatpur Police Station, said the bus carrying students of Bheramara Paturia Secondary School was going to Mujibnagar for a picnic and the brawl took place while returning to Bheramara in the evening. However, police seized the bus, added the OC, reports UNB.
Husband commits suicide in Sylhet

A Husband reportedly committed suicide by slitting her throat at Jalopara in the city’s Dakshin Surma area early Wednesday. Quoting a family member, Sub-inspector of Moglabazar Police Station said the deceased, Moklisur Rahman,55, Son of Askir Ali, a resident of Shopnonir 163, Sarnali in jalopara area Dakshin Surma, was mentally retarded. Moklisur Rahman father of two sons, Later he Poilce sent his dead body to Sylhet Medical College Hospital. The reason behind the death could be ascertained after getting the autopsy report, the SI added.
Youth electrocuted in Jhenidah

A young man died from electrocution at Permathurapur village in Harinakundu upazila on Friday. Mahtab Uddin, sub-inspector of Harinakunda Police Station, said Mizanur Rahman, son of Baser Ali of the village, came in contact with a live electric wire while repairing an electric line in the morning and died on the spot. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
