Two killed in Sherpur road mishaps

Two were killed in separate road accidents in Sherpur on Monday.The deceased were identified as Abul Kashem(55) at Nawhata area of Sherpur sadar and Ridoy Hosen(10) a school boy of Kanasakhula area of Sherpur.Sources said Abul Kashem were returning home at about 8.30 am. A Dhaka bound bus(Chitta metro-16-0011) was coming from Sribordi. At Nawhata area the bus lost its control and ran over Abul Kashem. Another Ridoy Hosen was crossing road at about 11am and a CNG auto rickshaw was going to Nakla from Sherpur sadar. At Kanasakhula area the auto rickshaw ran over Ridoy and he died on the spot.Officer in charge(investigation) of Sherpur sadar thana Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed about it. He added that the two dead bodies were sent to sadar hospital for autopsy.  

Youth’s body recovered in Ashulia

A hanging dead body of a youth has been rescued by police from a rented house of North Dendabor area of Ashulia on Tuesday noon. The deceased was identified as Selim, 30, son of Mozahar Hossain of Nagorpur thana of Tangail. Police source said, seeing a hanged body at the room neighbors informed it police station. On information police reached the spot and bring the body at police station. Sheikh Badrul Alam, Officer -In -charge of Ashulia police station, confirmed the matter and said dead body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. A case was filed with this connection he added.

Corporal punishment at school in Gournadi

At least seven students of class-VIII allegedly injured and finger of one broken by corporal punishment for absence in coaching classes at Bakai Niranjan Secondary School in Gournadi upazila of Barisal.The victims alleged that about 14/15 students were absent in coaching classes on Saturday and Sunday. Akhil Chandra Das, headmaster of the school, with a stick standing up the students on benches beat them during school hour on Monday for their absence on Saturday and Sunday. In that beating at least seven students’ sustained injuries and thumb finger of a female student was broken. The injured students were named as Khadiza Aktar, Tushar, Rajib, Sheuli, Sadia Aktar, Pingki Khanam, and Poly Aktar Shanto.Among them Khadiza Aktar, daughter of Kader Talukdar of Magura-Madaripur village, alleged that the head-sir mercilessly beaten her even after she explained that due to busyness in medical treatment of her sick father, she was forced to absent in coaching class on Saturday and Sunday.

15 injured in Pabna clash

At least 15 people including 4 women were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over disputed land at Shahapur village in Bera upazila of Pabna on Tuesday. Bera police and eyewitness said there was long standing enmity between Hasan Ali group and Sahanur Rahman group over a piece of land in the village.As a sequel to the enmity, at around 10.00am the supporters of both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving 15 injured. Six of the injured were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital and Bera upazila health complex. Of the admitted Kohinur Begum ,28, Hosneara, 60, and Sahanur, 30, was critical condition, hospital sources.
