Anti Corruption Week observed at Ranisankail

 To observe the Anti-corruption Week (March 26-April,2), a discussion meeting and debate and essay writing competition were held at Ranisankail Degree College hall in Thakurgaon recently. Ex-president Abdul Hamid and Principal- in- charge Tajul Islam were special guest in the function arranged by Upazila anti-corruption Committee with the Committee president principal Abdul Quddus. Besides, teachers, students and journalists were present. Among others, committee secretary lecturer Prasant Basak and vice-president Prof. Anwarul Islam delivered speeches. Oath taking by the students was conducted by Abdul Quddus. In the debate competition, Gazirhat degree college and Ranisankail degree college became the first and the second respectively. Miss Hosneaara of Gazirhat degree college became the best debater.
Laptops distributed at Ranisankail
 Some 27 laptops and internet modems were distributed among the community health care providers at Ranisankail Upazila Health Complex in Thakurgaon districts on Wednesday. A function was held that day with U.H.F.P officer Dr. in the chair. R.M.O Dr. Abdus Samad, Dr. Hasina Banu, Dr. Firoz Alam and Pressclub president Prof. Anwarul Islam were special guests. Besides, health inspector Abdul Malek, Afzal Hossen and C.H.C.P s were present on the occasion.
Dhaka-Sylhet highway blocked

CNG auto-rickshaw drivers blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Dakkhin Surma for over two hours after one of their colleagues was stabbed by unknown miscreants. Police said the drivers took to the street in Lalabazar area around 11:00am Friday, causing long traffic on both sides of the road.
The injured driver Shafiq Mia was admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital. The assailants stabbed him in both arms and legs. They withdrew their protests after police assured them to arrest the attackers as soon as possible
Shrimps worth Tk 1 lakh poisoned in Mongla

Shrimps and other spices of fish worth Tk1 lakh were poisoned to death in a fish farm belonging to one Anami Prokash Mandol of village Paschim Dattermeth under Mongla Upazila in the district on Wednesday at night. In this connection a GD (General Diary) was lodged with the local PS. It is learnt from the owner of the fish farm that in the morning a number of villagers found huge quantity of dead shrimps floating in his fish farm and informed him of the matter. He rushed to the spot and found the same. It is guessed by him that out of previous enmity with him miscreants poured poison in his fish farm. Md. Aminul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Mongla PS tells the newsmen that legal action will be taken against the miscreants after investigation.
Two HSC examinees injured as roof of exam hall collapses

Two higher secondary examinees sustained minor injuries after plaster from the roof of the examination hall fell on them on the first day of the examination at Gournadi Government College center under Barisal Education Board.The injured examinees were identified as Riaz Haoladar and Murad Shikdar, examinees from Palardi Model School and College of Gournadi.Moazzem Hossain, vice principal of Gournadi Government College, said the incident happened at about 11:00 am in room no. 13 of the center. Although a panic was created in that hall after the incident, but the examinees including the injured two completed their examination properly, he added The about forty-year old building was under repair and authourity informed education engineer department to visit the spot.
NGO worker mugged in Sylhet

Miscreants snatched a gold chain and cell phone from an NGO worker in Sylhet city on Tuesday morning. Locals said two motorcyclists stopped the rickshaw of Shefali Begum, an official of the Tobacco Free Sylhet Project of Simantik in Arambag residential area in the city at around 9:00am. They snatched a gold chain from her neck and a mobile phone. Shefali was going to the project office of Simantik at Baluchar in the city. Sylhet Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner Rahim Ullah told that no one was arrested in the incident.
 3 hijeckers arrested , Tk 9 lakh recovered

Atleast three hijackers were arrested by Dhaka district DB police on Monday night from jamgora area of Ashulia and kalampur area of Dhamrai in a connection with hijacking 86 lakh Tk from different places. In the mean time, police recovered 9 lakh tk from hijecker’s possession.The arrestees were identified as, Awal miya, 30, son of late Abul Hossain of Mymensing district, Habib Miya, 38, son of late Abdul goni of Bagerhat district, Sona miya, 25, son of late Rohim uddin of Manikgonj district.
