2 held with 2100 pieces of Yaba pills in Bogra

Rapid Action Battalion detained two people and seized 21,00 pieces of yaba tablets in a drive at Dhunut interaction of Sherpur upazila since on Tuesday. The arrestees are : Nasrin Akhter, 25, daughter of Jamsher Ali and Saiful Islam, 25, son of Aziz Mondal of village Bonmoricha under Garidaha union of Sherpur upazila of the district Rab members alleged that the detainees are members of a yaba trading gang. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-12 raided at Dhunut interaction in Sherpur upazila around 8:30pm on Tuesday and detained Nasrin Akhter and Saiful Islam. Around 2100 pieces of yaba tablets were also seized from their possession, Md. Mizanur Rahman, officer in charge of Sherpur police station told The New Nation. RAB source said they got secret information that a gang coming from India Boarder area with yaba tablets by a coach. When they pulled down from the bus Rab team arrested them red-handed with the drugs. A case was lodged with the PS in this connection, OC added.
12 shops, 3 houses gutted in B’baria
BRAHMANBARIA: Some 12 shops and three dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Sonarampur Bazar of Bancharampur upazila here on Friday. The fire originated from an electric short-circuit in Halim Sarkar Super Market area at about 3 pm and quickly engulfed other adjacent shops and houses. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bancharampur Model Thana Ongshu Kumar Dev confirmed the incident and said local people doused the blaze after one hour of hectic efforts. A huge quantity of properties was gutted in the fire, the OC added, reports BSS.
Jamaat leader arrested in Narail
NARAIL: The nayabe ameer of Lohagara Jamaat-e-Islami Badsha Miah, 45, was arrested from Baka village of the upazila of the district on Friday. Police sources said, acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested him. A number of cases, including charges of sabotage, are pending against him, the sources added, reports BSS.
One held with 2,000 Yaba pills in Rajbari
RAJBARI: Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 2,000 pieces of Yaba tablet at Bhandaria village in Sadar upazila on Friday night. The arrestee was identified as Nazmul Hasan Prince,30, son of Mohan Molla, a resident of the village. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Awlad Hossain said tipped off, a team of the police station and Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a raid on the house of Nazmul in the area and arrested him at about 9:30 pm. The law enforcers also recovered 2,000 pieces of Yaba tablet after searching the house. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
Man held with firearms in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Police in a drive arrested a young man along with firearms and ammunition at Koylar Bazar in Shibganj upazila on Friday. The arrested was identified as Ziaur Rahman, 35, son of Kafil Uddin of Hadinagar village in the upazila. Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Ziaur Rahman along with two firearms, 10 rounds of bullet and four magazines, said Moynul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
