Mural of Bangabandhu inaugurated in Rangpur

A newly built mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was inaugurated at the Zila School Crossing in the city on Thursday. Zila Parishad Administrator and Acting President of district unit of Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed at a ceremony formally inaugurated the mural built by the Zila Parishad at a cost of Taka 14 lakh. Acting Chief Executive Officer of Rangpur Zila Parishad Arzoo Ara Begum, its Senior Assistant Engineer A Z M Ahsan Ullah, Designer of the mural and renowned sculpture Anik Reza and local journalists were present in the ceremony, among others. After inaugural of the mural, many people of all ages and from all walks in the society placed wreaths there to pay their rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Valuables looted from house in Jessore
BENAPLE (Jessore):Robbers looted valuables from a house at Bahadurpur village in Sadar upazila on Thursday. Locals said a gang of robbers stormed the house of one Ashraf Ali breaking open is collapsible gate and kept the house inmates hostage at gunpoint around 2am. Later the robbers looted valuables, including cash, gold ornaments and mobile phone sets from the house and left the place with the booty. A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station, reports UNB.
3 pharmacies fined in Habiganj
HABIGANJ: Three pharmacies of Shaistaganj in the district were fined Taka 6,000 on Thursday, officials concerned here said yeserday. A mobile court led by Nirbahi Magistrate Sejuti conducted a raid in the area at noon and found that the pharmacies were doing business without license. The court also realized the money instantly, report BSS.
Four diagnostic centers fined in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: A mobile court fined four diagnostic centers for violating the rules of health department in Sarishabari upazila of the district, on Thursday afternoon. According to Rapid Action Battalion-14, the mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate M Ziaul Karim raided four diagnostic centers at hospital road area in the upazila. The mobile court fine the diagnostic centers for running without license and examining patients without proper apparatus in unhygienic places. The court fine Taka 5,000 to Rahman diagnostic center, Taka 10,000 to Doctors diagnostic center, Taka 3,000 to Master diagnostic center and Taka 3,000 to Bandhan diagnostic center, report BSS.
Blankets distributed at Kotalipara
GOPALGANJ: Six thousand cold hit poor people of Kotalipara of the district got blankets on Thursday. Standard Bank distributed the blankets among the poor people of the upazila, the bank sources said. Chairman of the bank Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, formally inaugurated the blankets distribution programme at the upazila. General secretary of Kotalipara upazila Awami league S M Humayan Kabir, Poura Mayor Ohidul Islam Hazra, the Bank manager Monir Hasan Hiron and others were present during the blankets distribution, reports BSS.
12,964 blankets distributed in Pirojpur
PIROJPUR: Pirojpur district administration has distributed 12,964 pieces of blankets among the cold hit poor people of the district during the current winter season. Of the total, 8,800 blankets donated from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the people of Pirojpur district and 4,164 pieces blankets from the Ministry of Relief, reports BSS.
