Admission seeker held at RU for forgery

An admission aspirant was held at Rajshahi University yesterday during the viva voce for resorting to unfairmeans. The detainee was identified as Ekhlasur Rahman, was appearing the viva voce for International Relations department. Hailed from Dhamoirhat upzila of Naogaon, son of Golam Mostafa, he stood 42nd in the admission test under E unit. “His hand writing at viva voce didn’t match the same which was written during the test. On suspicion, we sent him to the proctor office”, said Prof Abul Kashem, chairman of IR department. Contacted, RU proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan said, during interrogation Ekhlasur admitted that someone appeared in the admission test instead of him. In a reply to query, he said, his father knows the matter well. “However, contacted, his father Golam Mostafa denied and said, he doesn’t know anything”, Proctor also said.
Van puller killed, 3 others hurt in road mishap

A van puller was Killed on the spot and 3 others were injured seriously when a van run with battery was dashed violently by a speeding truck from its behind on Bagerhat-Khulna Highway at Saitgmbaz historic mosque area under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Rezaul Karim (37), son of one Miraj Hawladar of village Sundarghona under the same Upazila.The injured persons are truck driver Jalal Uddin (40), helper Ariful Hawladar (18) and one Mujibor (40) Police and locals said that the killer truck laden with paddy was going from Sharankhola in Bagerhat district to Khulna and when it reached the place of occurrence it dashed the van from its behind, lost its control and plunged into a road side ditch. As a result, the van puller was killed the spot and other 3 were injured.

Police recovered the dead body and sent it to the morgue for its autopsy and the injured persons were admitted to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for their treatment.
