One held with arms , gun powder in C’nawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested one person with a one shooter gun and 3,950 grams of gun powder from Sarkarer More area under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Saturday morning. The arrested person was identified as Tofiqul Islam, 30, son of late Sultan Mondol of Kamlakantapur village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.RAB said, Tofiq is an accused of 11 cases including a murder case. There are five cases under arms and explosives act in Shibganj police station and six cases in other thanas. He remained absconding for a long time and after returning home recently he became involved in terrorist activities, the sources added. The sources further added that a detective team of RAB in plain dresses was marking his movement and held him red handed at 11 am.
Baruli Snan Utsav held in Agoiljhara

Followers of Shree Shree Harichand Thakur of Shreedham Orakandi observed Baruli Snan festival at Hari Mandir of Talbazar in Agoiljhara upazila of Barisal on Saturday. The snan (bath) started at 6:50 am Saturday on the 13th Tithee of black fortnight (new moon) of Chaitra, the last month of Bangla calendar. The snan performed at the large pond adjacent to the Mandir and ended at 8:00 pm observing religious rituals, said Harendranath Haldar, priest and president of the temple committee. Hundreds of people participated in the Snan without any unhappy incident and amid peaceful coexistences and harmony of different religious community in the area, Yasin Sardar, former UP member, Lalu Haldar, Nirmal Bain, Gosai Haldar, Upendranath Biswas, local elites.
5 injured in Jhenidah clash

At least five persons were injured a clash over a trivial matter at Joradah village under Horiakundu upazila in Jhenidah on Saturday morning . The injured are Azizur Rahman, Arif Hossain Zantu, Somir Saha, Jomir Saha and Nazir Saha.The injured have been rushed to Horinakundu local upazila health complex and different clinics. Driving of a bullock driven cart through a wheat plot was mainly liable for the incident, said the villagers. Horinakundu police officer in charge (OC) Mahibul Islam said, a villagers had driven his bullock cart through a mature wheat plot in the morning led the clash.Both the groups faced each other with lethal weapons that had continued for an hour. No case was fled with Horiankundu police station in this connection as of filing of the report, the OC added.
National Crime observation’s branch office opens in Ashulia

National Crime Observation & Legal Aid Society’s branch office was opened at Hamid Bhuiyan Residential School & College premises of Vadail area of Ashulia on Friday. Dr Enamor Rahman MP, Dhaka-19, was present at the programme as a Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by Md. Abul Bashar Chowdhury, founder & director-general of the organisation. Among others, Hazi Sahid Bhuiyan, Chairman of SS Industrial park, Sadeq vhuiyan, Member of Dhamsona UP, Md. Billal were present at the time.
Teacher, 9 schoolgirls hurt by stalkers in Lalmonirhat
LALMONIRHAT: A teacher and nine girl students of Sarpukur High School were injured in an attack by some stalkers at Khatapara in Aditmari upazila on Saturday evening. Abu Taleb, the headmaster of the school, said their students took part in an inter-school science fair at Khatapa. When some spoiled youths attempted to take photograph of some girl students of the school their teachers resisted them which triggered an altercation between the teachers and the youths. The youths attacked the teachers when they were returning home with their students in an autorickshaw, leaving assistant teacher Pranab Kumar Roy and nine girl students injured. The injured were admitted to Aditmari upazila health complex. A case was filed in this connection with Aditmari police station. Teachers, students and guardians demanded immediate arrest of the attackers. Officer-in-charge of the police station Aslam Iqbal said they will take legal action soon against the attackers, reports UNB.
