BRAC advocacy workshops held in Bogra

BRAC arranged a district level advocacy workshops in presence of district high officials, elected persons, Journalist at Karatoa auditorium with a view to making the local Govt as well as Union porised stronger on Thursday. Mr. Asraf Uddin, Deputy Commissioner, Bogra was present to the programme as a chief guest under the presidency of Mr. Hayat-ud-Doula khan, additional deputy commissioner, Mr.Hasibur Rahman Bilu, Bogra Beuro chief of The Independent. Mr. Ferdousur Rahman, Bogra Correspondent,The New Nation. were present to the progremme.
Jessore Chamber polls on Dec 28

Election of Jessore chamber of commerce and industries limited will be held on December 28 although the date of voting was scheduled to be held on May 16, 2015, earlier, sources said.There were 18 candidates for the same number posts of the chamber at that time as 53 aspirants withdrew their candidatures even after buying nominations. Four BNP backed aspirants were picked up by the police earlier as they vowed to contest in the chamber election scheduled for May 16. Sabina Yeasmin, additional deputy commissioner, Jessore and also administrator of the chamber told The New Nation that free and fair election will be held this time.
Aurangzeb drama staged in Jessore
 Dhaka based theater group Prangane More staged the historical play Aurangzeb at Jessore Shilpakala Academy on Thursday. Written by Mohit Chattapadhya, the play was directed by Ananta Hira. Aurangzeb was the 6th Mughal emperor ruled the Indian sub continent from 31 July, 1658 to 3rd March, 1707 till the last day of his life. Aurangzeb is the shot name of Abul Muzaffar Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad Aurangzeb. His father was Emperor Shahjahan and Mumtaz Mughal was his mother. Born on 4th November 1618, Aurangzeb expanded his empire and prohibited alcohol and gambling. Centering the character of the Muslim ruler, the play was performed lively in front of over 500 viewers. It was very tough to describe the long life of the emperor but the performers tried to do that, said Harun-ar- Rashid Tuhin, general secretary, Bibartan Jessore, the organizing theater group.
World Soil Day observed in Barisal

World Soil Day (WSD) 2015 observed in Barisal with the slogan ‘soils a solid ground for life’ on Friday calling to adapt soil usage and development policy for saving the soil to maintain biodiversity.The WSD 2015 celebrated on the 4th of December at FAO headquarters in Rome and FAO regional offices and their partners’ world wide to connect people with soils and raise awareness on its critical importance in our lives. A gathering of farmers and development activists was organised on this occasion at Central Shaheed Minar of the city following a procession from Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall. Seven development organisations named as Association for sanitation and economic development (ASED), Prantojon Trust, Democratic Development Centre (DDC), Kamfist, Development Organization of coastal area’s people (DOCAP), SHIELD, RUPSA organised the programme.
