Husband kills wife over family feud in Kamalganj

A man killed his wife to death at Khatalkandi village in Kamalganj upazila of the Moulvibazar district at 9 pm on Friday. The deceased was identified as Amirun Begum, 21, wife of Yunus Miah, 25 of same village. Police quoted victim father Farid Miah and neighbors as saying that Yunus stabbed his wife in a family feud indiscriminately he chopped her with weapon around 12pm on Friday. Seriously v injured Amirun was admitted to Kamalganj Health Complex, later doctor on duty Prasen Kairi declared her dead. Police said, husband killed wife due to family feud. When contacted, Enamul Haque, OC of Kamalganj police station confirmed the matter to The New Nation. Farid held from the incident spot, he added.
Ex-JCD vice-president held in Sylhet

Former vice-president of Chhatra Dal Abdul Ahad Khan Jamal has beenarrested from Mirabazar area in the city early Monday. Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid at the JCD leader’s residence in the area and arrested him at about 1:00 am. The arrestee was wanted in several cases, the OC added.

The committee was approved by Religious Affairs Minister and President of Mymensingh District Awami League Alhaj Md. Motiur Rahman . Md.Anwarul Abedin Khan Tuhin MP is a convenor and Md. Hasan Mahmud Jewel is a joint convenor.
24 Jamaat-Shibirmen held in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: Joint force’s teams in separate drives from Monday night to early Tuesday arrested 30 people, including 24 Jamaat-Shibir activists, from six upazilas of the district on various charges. Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Detective Branch (DB) of police, said the joint team conducted separate drives in the six upazilas and arrested 30 people.
Of them, the law enforcers arrested 24 Jamaat-Shibir activists from Tianshi area in Sadar upazila while they were holding a secret meeting there. The law enforcers also recovered four hand bombs and huge jihadi (religious uprising) books from the spot, reports UNB.
Jessore carbon factory catches fire
BENAPOLE: A fire broke out at a carbon factory at Narendrapur in Sadar upazila of Jessore district on Monday night. Ruhul Quddus, acting assistant director of Jessore Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire erupted in the factory of Khulna Carbon Industries Limited, a Chinese venture, in the area around 7.30pm. It could not be ascertained immediately what caused the fire. On information, four firefighting units from Sadar, Abhaynagar and Manirampur stations rushed in and doused the flame after four hours of frantic efforts. Officials of the affected factory claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk10 lakh, reports UNB.
Handicapped youth tortured over theft charge
LAXMIPUR: A physically challenged young man was tortured inhumanly at the local bus terminal in the district town early Monday over a theft charge. He sustained severe burn injuries as the torturers scalded him with burning polythene bags. The victim was identified as Salauddin, son of Safique Ullah of Rasulpur village in Sadar upazila of the district. Police and victim’s family members said when Salauddin was returning home from the bus terminal after coming from Feni, some young men caught him around 2am suspecting him to be a chief, reports UNB.
