Victory Day preparation meet held in K’ganj

Kishoreganj District Administration will be arranged programmes marking the 44th Victory Day on 16 December. A preparation meeting was held at Local Collectorate Conference room on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah presided over the meeting. It was addressed among others by ADC (Rev) Kazi Abed Hossain, Additional Police Super S.M. Mustakim Hossain, Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed, Depty Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, District Awami League General Secretory Adv M.A Afzol, Kishoreganj Unit Freedom Fighter Commender Md. Asad Ullah, Gonotrantri General Secretory Adv Dulon Bhowmik, District Press Club President Mustafa Kamal, Educationalist Abu Khaled Phatan, Mohila Somity President Sultana Razia, Women Chambers President Fathematuz Zohora, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Scout leader Adv Swopon Kumer Sarker.All professional groups were also present in the preparation meeting.

Nabanno Utshab celebrated in Barisal

Nabanno Utshab-1422, new harvesting season at late autumn, was observed colourfully by Dalit Matua Community on Wednesday at Amritangan of Natun Bazar area in Barisal with the slogan ‘Natun Dhanney Hobey Nabanna Aaj Budhbar’. Farmers, agricultural workers and followers of Hari Guruchand Thakur, organised thethe festival of new harvest’ during the first Wednesday of Bangla month of Agrahayan (Nov-Dec. Participants of the festival called for end of inner and inter-communal discriminations and to observe the Nabanna Utsav officially as a national cultural festival. Bijoy Krishna Dey, renowned businessman , as chief guest inaugurated the festival in morning at Adi Shamshan Ghat in Natun Bazaar area of the city. The inaugural ceremony was followed by the colourful procession on city roads, and sessions of religious rituals. Dr. Gokul Chandra Bishwas, president of the Hari-Guruchand Samprodaya Matua Mandir Committee, presided over the inaugural session of the programme. The festival programme also included farmer’s reception, discussion, Nabanna Mela, food festival and feeding the guest with newly harvested crops, special ‘Nabanna, cultural function.

Fair on Disaster Reduction held in Rangpur

A two- day long divisional ‘Information and Knowledge Fair on Disaster Reduction and Adaptation with Climate Change 2015’ began at local Town Hall ground in the city here on Wednesday. The fair has been organised by the Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme (CDMP-II) under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief with assistance of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Rangpur. Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Md. Shah Kamal formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest with the Divisional Commissioner Delwar Bakht in the chair. Different government and non government organisations and institutions have set up some 40 stalls in the fair to demonstrate various presentations on risks of natural disasters and adverse impacts of climate change.
