King of Jordan warns of ‘world war’ against humanity

Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned Tuesday of a “third world war against humanity”, describing the Islamic State group as “savage outlaws of religion” in the wake of the Paris attacks.
During an official visit to Kosovo, Abdullah said both Europe and Islam were under attack from the “scourge” of terrorism that could strike anywhere and at any time.

Vietnam wants good relations with China

Vietnam’s prime minister said Wednesday that the communist country will do its best to develop good relations with China, but at the same time will defend its sovereignty in the disputed South China Sea.
“We sincerely do our utmost to strengthen friendship, mutual beneficial cooperation and mutual development with China in all fields,” Nguyen Tan Dung told the National Assembly.

32 killed in Nigeria market blast

A blast struck a market in the northeastern Nigerian city of Yola on Tuesday evening, killing 32 people and wounding 80 others, both the Red Cross and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said.
 The explosion occurred at a fruit and vegetable market beside a main road in the Jimeta area of Adamawa’s state capital around 8pm (1900 GMT).

Turkey for joint US operation against IS

Turkey’s foreign minister on Wednesday said Ankara “has plans” for a joint operation with the United States to end the presence of Islamic State militants along any part of its border with Syria.
Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu told the state-run news agency Anatolia that IS militants still had a presence on some of Turkey’s border with northern Syria.

Two Saudi police shot dead in kingdom’s east

Two Saudi policemen were shot dead on Wednesday when they came under fire in the kingdom’s east, where most of the minority Shia community live, the interior ministry said.
The pre-dawn attack happened near a farm in the Saihat area of Qatif, on the Gulf coast. A ministry spokesman said the suspect or suspects had not immediately been identified.

Chinese security forces kill 17 in Xinjiang

Chinese security forces in the restive far western region of Xinjiang have killed 17 people, including women and children, accused of involvement in an attack at a coal mine that left at least 50 dead, United States (US)-based Radio Free Asia said on Wednesday.
Hundreds of people have died in unrest in Xinjiang, home to the mostly Muslim Uighur people, and other parts of China over the past three years or so. China blames the violence on Islamist militants.
