Ganojagoron Mancho hold rally in Batisal

Barisal city life was normal on Tuesday amid picketing, agitation procession and rally of the activists of Ganojagoron Mancha in favour of half-day strike called by them protesting killings and attacks on bloggers, writers and publishers. Roads and water transports on long and short routes from Barisal port and bus terminals and transports on city roads plied normally. Ganojagoron Mancha holding procession on city roads and agitation rally in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall addressed among others by Dr. Manisha Chakraborty, Nigar Sultana Hanufa and others.
Ednl materials handed over to Monirampur Public Library

Reading Enhancement for Advancing Development (READ) Project of Jagorani Chakra Foundation handed over educational materials with to Monirampur Public Library at a ceremony on Monday evening. The project has been technically supported by the Save the Children and is funded by USAID. UNO Kamrul Hasan presided over the function and Upazilla Chairman Amjad Hossain Lavlu attended as Chief Guest. Press Club founder President Prof. MA Razzaque, Press Club Secretary Motahar Hossain, Library Secretary Prof. Nurul Haque, journalist Prof. Abdul Alim, Prof. Sajedur Rahman, Profo. Babul Akhter, Asaduzzaman Royel, Read senior technical officer Abdul Kader spoke among others. Library members and library office assistant Zomirul were also present at the function. The function was moderated by journalist S.M. Siddak.
Debate competition on Nat’l Electricity Week held

A debate competition was organized for school and madrasa students of Boalmari upazila to observe the National Electricity Week recently. At the initiative of local polli biddut samity, the competition organised by Boalmari Upazila Parishad. The competition was held in upazila parishad auditorium on Wednesday. 30 students participated in the debate. The subject matter of the debate was renewable fuel, Competence of fuel and fuel reservation. Judges of the competition were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shariful Islam, Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Nowsher Ali, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Jalaluddin, DGM of Polli Biddut Samity Engineer Jaheda Khanam.
4 robbers held in Patuakhali
Patuakhali: Police in separate drives arrested four alleged robbers from different areas of the district early Tuesday. Of them, tipped off, police arrested Alam,53, along with one shutter gun and three rounds of bullet from Keramatpur in Sadar upazila while a gang of robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery there at about 2:00 am, said officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Tariqul Islam, reports UNB.
