Iqra Disabled Children Hospital starts

A charity organisation starts indoor patient service through opening new wards for the people with disabilities from October 31. The organisers at a press briefing announced it on Tuesday. In his written statement placed before the media persons, Muktabis Un Nur, chairman of the ‘Iqra International’s Bangladesh chapter, said the organisation started its journey in Bangladesh in 1996 through some limited efforts for the poor and under privileged people. A number of UK-based Bangladesh origin expatriates extended their hands for those, he added. Foundation of the ‘Iqra Disabled Childrens’ Hospital’ in Sylhet city was laid on February 23, 2013 by the UK’s Labour party lawmaker Barrister Emily Thornbary, also the shadow attorney general.
6 Jamaat-Shibir activists held in M’singh

Detective Branch (DB) of police on Saturday detained five activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, while holding a clandestine meeting at Kewatkhali Balashpur area of the Sadar town. The detainees were identified as Golam Rabbani Ruman, 24,final years students, fisharis department, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. Badol Asraf, 25,final years student veterinary facalty, BAU, Mosarrof Hossain,28,student Anonda Mohon university collage Mymensingh, Ratan Mia, 28, member Dhobaora upazila unit , District DB officer-in-charge (OC) Imarat Hossain Gazi told that police detained them on charge of planning sabotage. Muktagacha municipal Jamaat chief Aftab Ahmed (46) were arrested on Saturday evening, from his residence at Muktagacha upazila in Mymensingh district. Fazlul Karim, Muktagacha Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) said, he has been arrested in a case of sabotage.
Ward Councillor stabbed in N’ganj
NARAYANGANJ: A ward councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation was stabbed to death by miscreants in Jamaipara area of Bandar upazila on Saturday night. The injured was identified as Sultan Ahmed, a councilor of 22 no ward. Police said a group of miscreants attacked him while he was supervising construction work of a road by the city corporation in the area at night, leaving him critically injured. Rescued by locals, he was admitted to Narayanganj General Hospital. Family members of Sultan alleged that he had an altercation with a local influential person named Habibur Rahman Habi and his son-in-law Alamin in the afternoon, who illegally grabbed the land of the city corporation and constructed shops and other structures there., reports UNB.
National Youth Day observed in Faridpur

National Youth Day was observed here today in a befitting manner. Local branch of Youth Development Directorate and district administration jointly organized the programme as a part of the countrywide programme. On this occasion the organizers arranged essay competition, paintings competition and discussion meeting. The discussion meeting held at the conference room of DC was chaired by ADC (Gen) Md. Abdur Rashid while DC Sardar Sharafat Ali attended as the chief guest. DC Sharafat Ali in his speech said that it is the youth community who can make our country happy and prosperous by deploying their energy, devotion, skill, patriotism and honesty.
