Int’l Disaster Reduction Day observed

Kishoreganj district administration and other NGO’s jointly organised a colourfull rally, art competition, documentary film and discussion marking the International Disaster Reduction Day. A discussion meeting was held at local collectorate conference room on Tuesday afternoon. Deputy Commissioner GSM Zaforullah was attended as chief guest while D.R.O Golam Sarowar in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akter Jamil as special guest, A.D.M Mahabub Hasan Shamim, District Food Controller Tapan Deb, Megistrate Farhana Ali and senior journalist Alam Sarowar Tito. Deputy Commissioner GSM Gaforullah distributing prize among the winners. A colourful rally was brought out in the town.
Mahila Parisha exchanges views with politicians
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Kishoreganj District Unit arranged a view exchange meeting with politicians on political empowerment of women at its office room on Tuesday evening. Distrct President Sultana Rajia presided over the meeting. It was addressed among others, by Educationalist Abu Khaled Pathan, Gonotantri Party District President Adv Dolon Bhowmik, CPB President Nazrul Islam, BSD Covenor Adv Shafiqul Islam, Senior Adv Nasir Uddin Faruki, senior journalist Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mustafa Kamal, Women Leader Principal Gulshan Ara and Mohila Porished Secratory Adv Maya Bhowmik.
7 hurt in BCL factional clash at Barisal B M College

Atleast seven activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League was injured in a factional clash on Barisal Govt B M College campus on Wednesday afternoon. The injured seven are Mubin, Miraj, Munna, Imran, Zaman, Sohel and Rimon. Among the injured except Munna, six others admitted at Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.General students of the college brought out agitation procession protesting entrance and attack on students by outsiders at afternoon. Prof. Imanul Hakim, principal of the college, said emergency meeting of the college academic council held at evening decided to investigate the incident and taking action marking the liable students. Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station officer- in- charge, said police deployed at the campus area to maintain law and order and till this report no case was lodged.
Jhantu for eco-friendly road networks
RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has stressed for building a traffic-jam free city through developing eco-friendly road communication networks. He said this while launching carpeting works of tow roads in Kamal Kachhna area under Ward No-25 and Radhaballov area under Ward No-19 by cutting ribbon at two separate ceremonies in the city on Wednesday afternoon as the chief guest. City Councilor Shafikul Islam Dulal of Ward No-19 and City Councilor Nurunnabi Fulu of Ward No-25 presided over the ceremonies respectively in presence of hundreds of people of the concerned localities, reports BSS.
