Journo’s mother’s death anniv observed

The first death anniversary of Sherpur district New Nation Correspondent Muhammad Rafiqul Islam’s mother was observed on Thursday ( Sept 16) . Her name is Sufia Begum. She died on September 16, 2014 in a cardiac attack and she was 65. She left behind five sons, four daughters, grand children, relatives and well-wishers to mourn and pray for her departed soul.
1141 bottles phensidyl seized from Jiban Nagar

BGB members of Darsona camp recovered 1041 bottles phansidyl from Halder Para border under Jiban Nagar Upazila in Chuadanga district recently. Acting on a secret information, BGB recovered 1041 bottles of phensidyl from the spot. A case has been filed with Jiban Nagar thana in this connection.
4 women return home from India

Four women, who went to India in search of fortune and were picked up by the police, came back to their own land on Monday noon, said Benapole immigration police. The Indian immigration police and the BSF handed the Bangladeshis over to their counter force through Benapole check post. Tariqul Islam, officer in-charge, Benapole immigration police told that the Bangladeshis were kept in a shelter home of an NGO after they were arrested by the police in Kolkata over a year back. ‘They were picked up from houses where there were working as house helps’, he added. Nasima Khatun, coordinator, Bangladesh Women Lawyers Association,Jessore told that the Bangladeshis will be handed over to their respective guardians after keeping them at a shelter home in Jessore.

Convener of the group Abu Hasan presided over the function . Emdadul Haque, Abu Yousuf, Alok Kumar, Saiful Islam, Shamol Kumar, Abdul Awal, Azizul Hque, Akram Hossain, Arup Kumar, Abdur Razzak, Arif Hossain, Siddikur Rahman and Hafizur Rahman spoke among others in the function.
Old man drowns in Sylhet

An old Man drowned in a pond at Kolagown village in South Surma upazila on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Badsha, 70, of Moglabazar union. UP Chairman of Moglabazar said Badsha lipped into the pond and drowned around 7:00pm. Later, locals recovered the body from the pond.
