3 drug traders with 2880 yaba held in Gaibandha

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive nabbed three drug traders with 2880 pieces of Yaba tablet from Maddhya Dhanghara area of the town here on Monday night. This was disclosed in a press briefing organized by Gaibandha RAB camp at Zilla Parisahd of the town here on Tuesday morning around 11.00 am. Senior assistant director (SAD) of Gaibandha RAB Camp Ashraf Hossain Siddique briefed the journalists of print and electronic media about it. SAD said being tripped a team of crime prevention company of RAB-13 conducted the drive at the area on Monday around 8.30 pm and arrested drug traders with 2880 pieces of Yaba tablet from there. The arrested drug traders are M. Alamin, 38, son of late Mojammel Haque, of Maddhya Dhanghara, Golam Rabbani, 43, son of late Abdul Aziz, of Thanapara, and Rajat Kanti Barman, 45, son of late Rajendra Narayan Barman, of College Road of the district town. The price of the recovered Yaba tablets has been estimated at TK 14.40 lakh, the SAD said.
Youth commits suicide in Habiganj

A youth allegedly committed suicide by taking poison at Lukra village under Sadar upazila last night. The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam, 17, son of Sirajul Islam of the same area. Police said Nazrul took poison for unknown reason and became sick. Nazrul was admitted to Sadar Adhunik Hospital where he died midnight.
Woman crushed under train in Habiganj

A woman was crashed under wheels of a local train at Harespur area in Madhabpur upazila of the district this morning. The deceased was Rahima Khatun, 25, daughter of Alai Miah of Jamalpur village of the upazila. Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar hospital morgue. In charge of Shaestaganj Railway police Abul Kashem confirmed the incident.
8 leaders , activists of Barisal BNP sent to jail

Eight leaders and activists of Bakerganj upazila BNP including a former lawmaker sent to jail on Tuesday after their bail prayers rejected by court.They were accused in a case of political violence and surrendered at Barisal district and session judge court. The jailed BNP leaders and activists were Abul Hosen Khan, former lawmaker of Barisal-6 constituency and upazila president, Abdul Kuddus, Nurul Islam, Siraz Sikdar, Jewel Talukdar, Shahjahan Khan, Shahin Sikdar and Mokbul Hosen Khan, leaders and activists of of Bakerganj upazila unit. Advocates Golam Mohammad Chowdhury Alal anf Mojibor Rahman Nantu, defense lawyers, said Sub Inspector Uttam Kumar Das on January 26, 2015 filing a case of political violence about arson attack accused 18 leaders and activists of Bakerganj upazila in a case.
