Tree Fair begins in Jessore

Lawmaker for Jessore – 3, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, on Saturday morning inaugurated a week long tree fair at Munshi Meherullah Maidan in Jessore town as the chief guest.A colorful procession paraded the town following the opening of the fair where Dr. Humayun Kabir,DC Jessore, took part among others. A total of 30 stalls were set up at the fair, said organizers.

Familiarization workshop held in Monirampur

A familiarisation workshop at upzila level was held in Monirampur upzila hall room on Tuesday. NGO Agrogoti arranged it. Govt. officers Union Chairman NGO personalities, political leaders and journalists attended the workshop. Presided over by UNO Md. Kamrul Hasan Upzila chairman Amzad Hossain Lavlu was present as chief gust. Assistant Commissioner (Land ) Vice Chairman Nazma Khanum, Press Club Founder Prof. M.A Razzaque , General secretary Motaher Hossain, Prof. Babul Akter, Chairman Ad. Mujubur Rahman Agrogoti Executive Director Abdus Sobur attended the workshop.

Two fish traders killed in road mishap in Fakirhat

Two passengers of a pickup (Dhaka-14-9063) were killed and its driver was seriously injured when it collided with a paddy laden truck on Khulna-Mongla Highway at Lokpur-Badamtala area under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as fish trader Arif Molla (20), son of one Karim Molla of village Gimadanga under Tungipara Upazila in Gopalganj district and fish trader Rabiul Islam (14), son of one Tuku Fakir of the same village and the injured driver of the pickup is Golam Mostafa (32) of the same village. Md. Abdul Mannan Faraji, Officer-in-charge of Katakhali Highway police said that in the morning the paddy laden truck was going from Mongla to Khulna and when it reached Lokpur-Badamtala area it went out of order. Then its driver was repairing it on the Highway. In the same morning the ill-fated pickup was going from Gopalganj to Khulna and when it reached the place of occurrence it dashed the truck from its behind violently. As a result, its passenger Arif Molla was killed on the spot and its other passenger Rabiul Islam and its driver Golam Mostafa were seriously injured.

Youth ‘commits suicide’ in Sunamganj

A youth reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his residence at Polosshree in Jagannathpur upazila on Monday. The deceased was identified as Saleh Ahmed, 23, son of late Nasir Mian, hailing from Sajonshree village in the upazila. Relatives of the deceased said Saheh committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling of his room on Monday noon. Later, his mother noticed it and informed police. Police recovered the body from his room. Sub-inspector of Jagannathpur Police Station Anirban Biswas said the body was handed over to the deceased’s family without autopsy according to their application.

Latifa Shafi Choudury Women’s College, Sylhet has showed excellent result achieving 91% percent success in Sylhet Education Board in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination this year.A total of 392 examinees appeared from Latifa Shafi Choudury Women’s College in the HSC examination this year. When contacted Amirul Alam Khan, Principal , Latifa Shafi Choudury Women’s College said we are happy with the result. Seminar on exploring local culture held at BRUR

A seminar on “Exploring Local Culture: Connecting Gender, Poverty and Disaster” was held yesterday (Monday) noon at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR). Women and Gender Studies department of the university arranged the seminar at its auditorium. Md Humayun Kabir, Assistant Professor and head of Women and Gender Studies Department of the university presided over the seminar. Md Tanziul Islam Zibon, Assistant Professor and head of Political Science Department of BRUR and Muhammad Anwar Hossain, Lecturer of Sociology Department of BRUR were present at the seminar as special guests.
