Bumper production of corolla has been achieved in Char algi, Tangabo, Dotter Bazar, and Panchbag Union at Gafargaon under Mymensingh this season.
.Everyday corolla is picked up with the rising sun. Later, businessmen from different places come here and take these vegetable to different places including capital city Dhaka. In spite of being bumper production corolla farmers are getting deprived of due price. The four unions include Brahmaputra river in one side and remote char area in another side.
In the basin of Brahmaputra River farmers are cultivating corolla . Cultivating corolla , farmers are now going to be self-employed.
Corolla cultivation has changed the wheels of their fortune. They were completely dependent on paddy cultivation in their lands but in these lands corolla has changed their new way of life. The livelihood of farmers are getting development by cultivating corolla.and this has brought a successful life on agriculture. Instead of paddy cultivation , vegetables and robi crops are more produced for sill sandy doas soil.
when contacted , in the basin of Brahmaputra river ,people of Nidiar char of Char algi union, Bamonkhali of Tangabo union, battola, Basia, ,Char shankchura of Panchbag, and Datterbazar are being cultivated only corolla. Pumpkin, brinjal, Jute,Borboti, Puishakh, Lal shak, Data, Ladys-fingers, and more crops are cultivated here.
Upazila Agriculture Officer S.S.Farhana Hossain informed, the bumper production of corolla is cultivated in Tangabo, Datterbazar, Char Algi, and Pancbag union.She also said, corolla has been exported in many p[laces including Dhaka demanding this area.
Rabiullah ,a farmer of Nidiarchar village said, he has cultivated corolla in his one acres of land. Getting bumper production,he has sold corolla 22/25 taka per kg. Shahid, Sohag,Nure Alam of thie same village said, they have cost 7/8 hajar taka in each katha, and 70/80 hajar taka cost in each acre.
At least 32 maunds are produced corolla in each katha. they sell corolla 85/90 hazar taka in each acre and get much profit.
Besides , Ajim Uddin farmer of Bamon Khali village, Hasiful , Ajim Uddin of the same village has cultivated 1 acre of land cultivating corolla. More than fifty hundred farmers have cultivated corolla in their lands.
