Non-govt teachers demand inclusion in new pay-scale

Teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions have been continuing their movement for inclusion in new pay-scale holding an agitation rally on Thursday threatened to lock institutions to realise their demand. The programme in front Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall was organised by Jatiya Shikkhak Karmachari Front, Barisal divisional unit. Divisional convener of the front Prof. Mohsin Ul Islam Habul presided over the programme demanding indiscriminate unitary education system by nationalization of their service. Aminul Islam Khasru, Aminul Rahman Khokan, Nur Daraj, Rafikul Islam, Bidhan Chandra, Mojibur Rahman, Gouranga Kundu, Rezaul Karim, and other leaders of the front, addressed the rally. The speakers in their speeches said that education as backbone of the nation has no alternative in sustainable development of human resources and socio-economic progress of the country.
Middle aged man killed in road accident in Dupchanchia

A middle aged man was allegedly killed in a road accident nearby Bazardighi area of sadar union under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Thursday noon. The deceased was identified as Jalal Uddin, 40, son of Sayed Ali Tarajun village of the upazila. Quoting eye witness, police said the accident took place in the area while Jalal was crossing Bogra-Naogaon high way from Dhaphat, leaving him died in the spot. Officer-in-charge of Dupchanchia police station Gopal Chandro Chocrobarty confirms the death news. An unnatural death case was filled with the police station in this connection, oc added.
Legal aid confce held at Kishoreganj

National Legal Aid organization, Kishoreganj Unit arranged legal-aid conference at Judge Court conference room on Thursday. Senior District & Session Judge Md. Mahabub-ul-Islam, Freedom Fighter presided over the conference. Speical Judge (Women & Children) Md. Awalad Hossain, C.J.M Abdul Salam and A.D.M Tahmina Akter attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Bar President & P.P Advocate Shah Azizul Hoque, Joint District Judge Zakri Hossain, District Legal-Aid officer Biplob Sarker, Senior Advocate Dolon Bhowmik, Senior A.S.P Fazlul Bari and Mohila Somity District President Sultana Khaled. Later, Senior District Judge published the Yearly Legal-Aid Magazine.
Mugger hurt in ‘gunfight’ with cops in Bogra

A suspected mugger was injured in a ‘gunfight’ between his cohorts and police in the district town on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Rakib, 28. Police said acting on secret information that a gang of muggers were taking preparation to commit mugging, a team of police conducted a drive near Altafunnesa Playground in the town around 11 pm. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the muggers hurled crude bombs and fired 7-8 rounds of bullet at police, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight. Rakib was caught in the line of fire and sustained injury in his leg. Later police arrested bullet-wounded Rakib while his associates managed to flee the spot. Police recovered a revolver and three rounds of bullet from his possession. A sub-inspector named Julhash was injured during the bomb attack.
