Community center inaugurated

 A community center was inaugurated at Gouripur in Daudkandi upazila in on Thursday. Showkat Ali Freedom Fighter and President , Titas Upazila Awami League chaired the function. . Mejor (Rtd) Mohammad Ali Chairman Daudkandi Upazila Parishad was present as the Chief Guest. Engineer Abdus Salam Secretary Daudkandi Upazila Awamileague, MD. Habibur Rahman Habib President Daudkandi Press Club and Secondary Teachers’ Association and Jubo League Leader Ismail Hossain spoke among others. MD. Salim Headmaster Gouripur S.A High School and Salim Miah Talukder Assistant Headmaster were present among others.
One killed, 10 injured road accidents

At least one person was killed and ten others were injured in two separate road accidents on Barisal-Dhaka highway and Barisal-Sharikal road on Friday. Md. Nasiruddin,31, killed a the spot and Md. Shahid,50, Selim Mia, 35, severely was injured after on bus hit their carrier motorcycle at Kataksthal under Gournadi police station of Barisal on Barisal-Dhaka highway at about 11:30 AM Friday, said Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, Gournadi highway police station officer in charge. All of the victims were from Otra of Wazirpur upazila of the district and police recovering them sent dead body to SBMCH morgue for autopsy and admitted injured two at Gournadi upazila health complex, police sources said. In another accident driver of a car loosing control over vehicle during training-drive entered inside tea-stall of Siraj Mia at Pinglakathi on Gournadi-Sharikhal road at about 11:45 AM Friday. At least eight people were injured and four of them named Dulal Shikdar, Salahuddin Gazi, Sohel Shikdar and Araj Ali Shikdar, sent to Barisal SBMCH and another four to Gournadi upazila health complex. Kamrul Islam, the trainee and his trainer driver managed to flee from the scene with the vehicle and police trying to nab them, said Humayun Kabir, Gournadi police station officer in charge.
Pedestrian killed in road mishap

A pedestrian was killed as a running micro hit him nearby Choumohoni bazar area under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Bulu Mia, 50, son of late Josmotulla Joytul village under Kahaloo upazila of the district. Quitting family member police said that Bulu had been living in Futanygonj village of Dupchanchia upazila for three years as he was cultivating fishes taking lease pond in the village. Officer-in-charge of Dupchanchia Police Station Gopal Chandro Chocrobarty said a speeding micro bus hits pedestrian Bulu from opposite side in the area when he was going to Futanygong village from Choumuhony bazar of Bogra, leaving him died in the spot. The driver managed to flee away from the spot. The dead body was yet to be rushed to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy. A murder case was lodged against micro bus driver with the police station in this connection.
Two held with cocktails, revolver in M’bazar

Police arrested two people in possession of seven Molotov cocktails and one revolver from Baurbhag area in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning. The arrestees were identified as Kanchan Miah,55, a resident of Sadhuhati village, and Nuru Miah,40, a resident of Fatepur village of the upazila. Police said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo along with seven Molotov cocktails and one revolver in the morning. Assistant sub-inspector of Moulvibazar Model Police Station Anwar Hossain confirmed the arrest. A case was filed in this connection.
Jamaat man hurt in gunfight with cops in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: An activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was injured in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Ghonatala in Debhata upazila early Saturday. The victim was identified as Nurul Amin, 45, an activist of Debhata unit Jamaat-e-Islami and son of Akbar Ali Gazi of Garanbaria village. Tipped off that some activists of Jamaat-Shibir men were gathering in Ghonatala area for carrying out subversive activities, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 2.00am, said Kamal Hossain, sub-inspector of Debhata Police Station. Sensing the presence of police, the Jamaat-Shibir men hurled bombs at them, prompting the law enforcers to take action, triggering a gunfight. At one stage, Nurul Amin sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight. Later police rescued him and rushed him to sadar hospital while his associates escaped the scene. Police also recovered a sharp weapon and two iron rods from the spot. Nurul Amin was wanted in separate cases filed with Debhata Police Station, said police.
