10 persons injured in Natore clash

At least ten persons were injured in a clash at Nitainagat Eidgah field under Baraigram upazila in Natore district. On Eid day, Aslam and his supporters began to collect money for development of Eidgah. Then Aukat Hossain and his followers demanded to know debit and credit of the Eidgah Field and forbid to collect money. Firstly, hot words were exchanged between two groups but it turned into a clash. In the clash, at least ten persons were injured. Of them, Uzzal (22), Nazim (20), Ahmed (45), Akbor Ali (50) of the village Nitainagar, Jasim Uddin (30) of the village Krisnopur and Rofu (54) took admission in local clinic. In second step, when two groups began chase and counter chase, police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
Twelve thousand familie of Barisal observed Eid-ul- Fitr on Friday

More than forty-five thousand peoples of twelve thousand families observed Eid ul Fitr on Friday July 17 in accordance with Saudi Arabia. They offered Eid ul Fitr Jamaats (congregational prayer gatherings) in 80 places including one in city area, one in Metropolitan area and others in 8 upazilas under Barisal, Bhola, Jhalakathi, Barguna, and Patuakhali districts.They claimed that they are the followers of Kaderia, Jahangiria and Chistia Tarika and Pir of Elahabad Sufia Darbarsharif at Kanchan Nagor and Pir Shaheb of Mariachi Darbar Sharif of Satkania under Chittagong district. They are the resident of Tiyakhali area of the city, Madhoppasa of metro, Kedarpur, Madhavpasha, Talukdar Char, Nishan Baria, Haji Banshkati of Babuganj, Sundarkati of Bakerganj, and Harinafulia of Sadar upazilas of Barisal, Galachipa, Baufal, Kalapara and Sadar upazilas of Patuakhali, Charfesson upazila of Bhola, Taltali of Barguna and Nalchhity upazila of Jhalakati districts.
Journo Shamsur Rahman’s death anniv observed

Jessore Press Club, Journalists Union of Jessore and Jessore Journalist Union chalked out several programmes marking the death anniversary of journalist Shamsur Rahman. The programmes include discussions, wearing black badges, placing floral wreath at the grave and doa mahfil. Jahid Hasan Tukun, president, Jessore Press Club chaired the discussion held at the press club at noon. It was addressed among others by former presidents of Jessore Press Club – Fakir Shaukat, Mizanur Rahman Tota and Ekram-ud- Daullah and Tauhidur Rahman, general secretary. On July 16, 2000 Shamsur Rahman, a special correspondent of Dainik Janakantha and a stringer of BBC Bangla Service, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his office at Daratana in the town. The incident took place at around 8:10pm on the day.
Human chain in Jessore protesting Rajan’s killing
People of different walks of life on Thursday morning formed a human chain at Nawapara industrial town demanding immediate arrest of killers of Rajon, a thirteen -year boy who was killed in Sylhel recently. A number of children also took part the chain. A rally was held during the chain where Faruk Hossain, president, Nawapara Press Club, businessman Mainur Jahur, Harun -ar- Rashid, Masum Taj and Moniruzzaman Moni spoke. The speakers demanded exemplary punishment to the killers of the minor boy.
Six suspected robbers held in Sylhet

RAB 9, Osmaninogor and Fenchugong police last night detained Six suspected robbers from the District’s area recently. A team of the RAB nabbed Suhel, Sobuj, Ripon, Layek from the Bypass bridge, said ASP of RAB 9. RAB claimed that they were the members of an organised robber-gang. Osmaninogor Police detained Listed Robber Salik from the Bishanath area on Tuesday Fenchugong Police detained Robber Abu from the Fenchugong area on Wednesday. Police added that they had been committing the robbery in and outside the Sylhet for long.
