One held, arms seized in Jessore

Rapid Action Battalion men on Friday night arrested a man along with a 6.65 pistol and three rounds of bullets raiding his Mollahpara based residence in Jessore town. The arrested is Abdul Kuddus, an accused arms trader and also resident of Mollahpara in Jessore town. ASP Mohammad Ziaul Haq of RAB-6, Jessore camp told journalists that tipped off the RAB men raided the residence and arrest the arms trader along with the arms and ammunitions at around 11pm on Friday.
Police official’s housemaid commits suicide
A teen aged housemaid of a police official committed hanging from the ceiling of the police man at Ghope Nawapara Road in Jessore town on Friday morning. The dead is identified as Rupali Khatun, 14, daughter of Ibrahim Hossain of Collegepara in Kotchandpur upazila headquarters in Jhenidah district and also housemaid of sub inspector Ashikur Rahman of Chuadanga sadar police station. Talking to newsmen Ibrahim Hossain, father of the victim told that her daughter had been working at the residence of the police official for last few years as a housemaid due to poverty. ‘ My loving daughter is now dead,’ he added. Sheikh Goni Mia, officier in-charge, investigation, told that being informed police recovered the body from the residence of the police official who was no working in Chuadanga, in hanging state. The reason behind the incident could not be known immediately.
Scholarship distributed to meritorious students

 Scholarships have been distributed to the meritorious students of Bauphal in Patuakhali in Nazirpur High School hall room on Saturday. Abdul Khaleq Master Foundation awarded the scholarship and crest to 51 students who passed S.S.C. examination with glorious result in 2015. Besides, crest was given to 5 best schools and 7 retired school teachers of various schools of Bauphal upazila. Justice A.K.M. Jahirul Haque was the Chief Guest and Principal Md. Nurul Islam, Chairman of the Foundation presided over the programme. UNO Abdullah Al-Mahmud Jaman, OC A J M Masuduzzaman, UP Chairman Ibrahim Faruk, Principal Moshiur Rahaman, Hasna Hena, Prof Naznin Akter Najma were present in this programme as special guests.
Cash, laptop , mobile phone hijacked from motor cyclist

A gang of armed miscreants hijacked cash Tk.25 thousand, one laptop and a mobile phone from Nuruzzaman Pramanik (37), area manager of Olympic Company on Bagerhat Khulna Highway near at C & B bazar in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila on arms point on Friday night. At that time Nuruzzaman was seriously injured in the hands of the hijackers. Nuruzzaman who is now undertaking treatment in Bagerhat Sadar Hospital said that at dead of night he was returning to Bagerhat by his motor cycle on Bagerhat-Khulna Highway and when he reached near C&B bazaar, 4 armed miscreants suddenly appeared there by 2 motor cycles, stopped him on arms point and snatched away cash Tk.25 thousand, one laptop, one mobile phone and the keys of his motor cycle after physically assaulting him and fled away. As result, he was seriously injured. It is learnt from the Bagerhat Model PS that no case was registered with the PS so far.
