Rapist gets life for killing girl after rape in Pabna

A Pabna court sentenced a rapist to life term imprisonment on Tuesday for killing after rape a girl. Pabna Women and Children Repression Protection Court judge Gazi Rahman pronounced the verdict. The convict was Abdul Momin, 32, son of Jamat Ali of Bhajendrapur village of Pabna sadar upazila. The court also fined Tk 1 lakh him. Another accused Abdus Salam acquitted the case. The prosecution story said Momin killed Shrifa Khatun after rape on June 12, 2005. Sharifa’s father Lalu Pramanik filed a case with the Pabna police against Abdul Momin and Abdus Salam on June 13, 2005 and later, the police submitted the charge sheet against them. Abdus Salam acquitted the case.

Student commits suicide in Sherpur

 A student allegedly committed suicide hanging herself with a ceiling of her bed room of their house at Chandipur village under Bhabanipur union of Sherpur upazila in Bogra district recently. The deceased was identified as Sabina Khatun, 14, daughter of Saiful Islam of the village and a class eight student of local Chonka High School of the upazila. Police quoting the deceased’s relatives said that she demanded to buy a dress for celebrating eid-ul-fitr from his poor father but due to poverty, her father denied her demand and being aggrieved, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her bed room of the house on Sunday night. Later, the relatives found her hanging body and informed police. Based on information, police recovered the dead body. Officer -in-Charge of Sherpur police station said that an unnatural death case was lodged with the police station in this connection

43 authorised passports recovered in Bogra

 DB police recovered 43 authorised passports from a man after arresting him from Shandhabari Uttorpara village under Gabtoli upazila in Bogra on early Monday. The arrestee was identified as Atiqur Rahman, 32, son of Abed Ali of Shandhabari Uttorpara village of the same upazila in the district and organizing secretary of Gabtoli sadar union Awami League. DB police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a raid in the house of the arrestee and recovered 43 authorished passports from his possession and arrested him. The passports were marked legal from the passports office of Bogra but the passports belonged to Alam Mia, a Malaysia expatriate, who kept in his house, added DB source quoting the arrestee.

Girl commits suicide for uploading nude photos on fb

 A student of Nawapara Women’s College committed suicide for allegedly uploading her nude photographs on the facebook by her friends on Monday. The police, however, described the matter as rumor. The victim was identified as Halima Khatun, 15, student of second, Higher Secondary Class, Nawapra Women’s College and also daughter of Bazlur Rahman of Kamkul village under Abhaynagar upazila. Talking to New Nation, Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station said an unnatural death case was lodged with the police station in connection with the suicidal of the girl. He, however, described the information of uploading necked snapshots of the girl on the facebook as a rumor.
