Basic IT training begins in Bangabari Union

 A basic IT training programme was held at Bangabari U S School and College auditorium in Chapainababgonj with 20 women of Bangabari union on Monday . Md. Majibur Rahman Khokon, Assistant Director of DIIT presided the inauguration programme of Learning and Earning development training Program under ICT division. Md. Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Gomostapur was present as chief guest. Mr. Md. Mostafa Kamal, Principal of Bangabari U S School and College was present as special guest. The trainee students and the respectable person of the area were present on the programme.

6 BNP activists injured as AL activists attack Iftar party

Six BNP activists were injured as AL activists attacked Iftar preparatory meeting at Jangalia Bazaar in Mehendiganj of Barisal on Saturday noon. Among the injured six, two named as Abdus Sattar Rari and Abul Kalam, admitted at Barisal Shere Bangla Medical College Hospital and others treated at local pharmacies. Md. Azad, injured Jangalia union BNP president, alleged that, leaders and activists of Hizla and Mehendiganj upazila BNP arranged a joint-preparatory meeting for making schedule of iftar parties at the union BNP office on Sataurday. At that time a group of AL and front organisation cadres led by union AL secretary Md.Mainuddin attacked and dispersed BNP activists injuring at least six of them. Union AL secretary Mainuddin denying the allegation said the BNP meeting was foiled due to their internal conflict.
Ujjal Kumar Dey, Mehendiganj police station officer in charge, said he heard about the incident and will take action after investigation, but no allegation was filed before him till this report.

Rotary distributes study materials among students

Rotary Club will distribute a total of 10 lakh academic books and one lakh copies and establish 200 libraries across the country in Rotary year 2015-2016, Shaukat Hossain, governor, Rotary International, district 3281, told on Saturday at a press conference. The press conference was held at Jessore Press Club on Saturday noon in presence of Jahid Hasan Tukun, president, Rotary Club of Jessore, AZM Saleq, Moazzem Hossain, Rubayat Hossain and Gias Uddin. The Rotary governor informed that the club has undertaken a project to bear the expense of study of some 100 higher secondary level students so that they could complete graduation. ‘The club will also arrange trainings for 60 football players’, he added.

DU student killed in road mishap in Jhenidah

 A Dhaka University student of Master’s group was killed in a road crash while going to his niece’s house at Baliadanga village under Kaliganj upazila of the district on Saturday . The deceased was identified as Aminur Rahman, 25 son of Joynal Bepari of Bagdanga village at Churamonkati bazaar area under Jessore sadar upazila. He was a student of Peace and Conflict studies department of Dhaka University. At the time four received injuries. They had been rushed to Jessore Medical College and hospital. They are Abdus Sattar, 55, Mini Khatun, 40, Ritu Khatun, 20 and Iqbal Hossain, 40. Family members said, they are eight brothers and sisters in number. He is the youngest of all. Officer- In- Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain of Kaliganj police station said, on Saturday morning at around 11-00 am a three wheeler (locally known Mahendro) was going to Baliadanga bus stand with passenger.
