View exchange meeting held in Rangpur

Speakers at a view exchange meeting emphasised the need for reducing the discrimination between the poor and rich for the sustainable development of the country on Wednesday.
Advocacy for Social Change of Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) organised the daylong meeting on ” Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development” under its challenging the Frontiers Poverty Reduction- Targeting the Ultra Poor (CFPR-TUP) Project at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner Office in Rangpur on Wednesday. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen), Rangpur ATM Mahbub-Ul-Karim presided over the meeting while Additional Deputy Commissioner(Rev), Rangpur, Mostain Billah, Civil Surgeon Rangpur Dr. Md. Mozammel Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Md. Khalilur Rahman, addressed the meeting among others.BRAC Officer, Rangpur Abu Sayed delivered the welcome speech while BRAC Officer Minhazul Islam coordinated the meeting. Rezvina Parvin, Manager Advocacy for Social Change, BRAC Head Office, Dhaka presented the keynote paper and moderated the meeting.  
Housewife found dead in Sariakandi
Dupchanchia (Bogra) Correspondent
A housewife was allegedly found dead in an edge of pond nearby bazar area of Sultana village under Sariakandi upazila of Bogra district recently. The deceased was identified as Robban Begun, 38, wife of Maku Khan Sultana village of Kamakpur union of the upazila. Locals said she might have been strangulated on the following day as both husband and wife used to quarrel due to Maku’s taking drug. Preparation of lodging murder case with the police station in this connection is going on.
Teachers training workshop held in Sylhet

A Two day Long workshop on’ teachers training ‘was held at Captain Academy Conference Room on Monday. It was jointly organized by EHDS and U.S Embassy . EHDS Chair parson presided over the programme while ADC AZM Nurul Huque inaugurated the workshop as Chief Guest. Cristina Tores,Magi Ispiono,Calcy Ivean and Natasha Abdullah was the Facilitator at the workshop. The Workshop was divided into two parts Presentation & Teachers’ Performance. There were about 40 teachers’ of different departments took part in the day long workshop. After the successful completion of the workshop certificates were awarded to the participants by Jahangir Alam, Sylhet District Education Officer.
District community report published in Sylhet
The district community report of ‘Population and Housing Census 2011’ was published in a programme held at DC conference room of Sylhet deputy commissioner’s office Thursday. Sylhet district statistics office organised the programme while Sylhet Deputy Commissioner MD Shohidul Islam presided over it. ADC Sebera Akter and deputy director of Gazipur statistic office SM Anisujjaman among others addressed the meeting. Local journalists were also present in the programme.
Tagore’s 154th birth anniversary celebrated in Faridpur
Faridpur: The 154th birth anniversary of world poet Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in the district on Friday amid much enthusiasm and festivity. In celebration of the anniversary, Faridpur Shahittya and Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha (FSSUS), a local literary and cultural organization, chalked out elaborate programmes including discussion, recitation and musical soiree of Tagore on the premises of the Sangstha.The discussion chaired by FSSUS president and Freedom Fighter Abul Faez Shahnawaj was participated ,among others, by Kushal Chowdhury, Shawkat Ali Zahid, Asma Akhtar Mukta and Steve Turja.The discussants spoke on the versatile genius of Tagore who contributed enormously for enriching Bangla literature. There was no side left where this great poet did not contribute, the speakers said.They mentioned that through his immortal writings the great poet gave the Bangalees a separate identity in the globe.The discussion was followed by recitations from Tagore where Abu Sufian Chowdhury and Mahin. A musical soireee followed the recitation programme, reports BSS.
