Handing over ceremony of poultry farms held at Wazirpur

Handing over ceremony of agreement to the small-scale commercial poultry farms and farmers was held at Wazirpur Upazila of Barisal on Monday. The programme at Wazirpur Upazila Parishad Auditorium was presided over by Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner Barisal. It was addressed among others by Ms. Shelina Afroza PhD, secretary, fisheries and livestock ministry , Mr. Mike Robson, FAO Representative in Bangladesh, Hafizur Rahman, Wazirpur upazila chairman, Goutam Kumar Kundu, deputy director of livestock directorate, Abul Kalam Azad,national coordinator of the project .The speakers informed that Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Bangladesh implementing the project titled, “Improving Food Security of Women and Children by Enhancing Backyard and Small Scale Poultry Production in Southern Delta Region”.
Drug peddler held with 23,300 yaba Rangpur Correspondent
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Rangpur -13 arrested one drug peddler along with 23,300 pieces of contraband yaba tablets at Vurarghat area under Rangpur city on Sunday evening. The arrestee was identified as Aminul Islam (29) of the area. Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB 13 in the guise of yaba buyers went to the Vurarghat area on Sunday at around 6:30 pm. As the drug peddler came to the spot with Yaba tablets RAB arrested him and seized 23,300 pieces of yaba worth around Tk 70 lakh from his possession.
Body found in Chapainawabganj

A beheaded dead body was recovered from Char Islampur Madhyapara area under Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Monday noon. The dead body was identified as Delwar, 17, son of Ibrahim of Ghaitalpara under Chapainawabganj municipality. Officer in charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj sadar thana Golam Mortuja said being informed by the local sources, police from the police station rushed to the spot and found the body in a field of the area at around 12-30 pm. Police recovered the beheaded the dead body and sent it to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Freedom Fighter passes away

Sardar Moklesur Rahman (66), son of late Sardar Abdul Hakim of village Khardar under Bagerhat Pourashava, a freedom fighter, a local Awami League leader, social worker and former councilor of Bagerhat Pourashava breathed his last in Kolkata in India on Friday. He went there for his treatment. He left behind widow, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother, 5 sisters and a host of friends, relatives and admirers to mourn his death. He was kind, generous, well behaved and affectionate to his friends.
May Day observed in Gopalganj

The historic May Day was observed in Gopalganj with renewed pledge to uphold the rights of the working people on Friday. Various political parties, trade unions, Labour and socio-cultural organisations had chalked out elaborate programmes including hoisting of national and labour flags a top the offices of trade unions and labour organisations, discussion meetings, rallies and cultural function to make the day. In the morning Gopalganj District Paribahan Sramik Union, Motor Sramik Union, Nirman Sramik Union, Biddhut Sramik Union with different organisations brought out a colourful rally which paraded main roads in the town. After rally a discussion meeting was held at its office premises of Kuadanga in the city.
