A council session was held at District Udichi Office at Manikganj Shaheed Smriti Phal organized by Bangladesh Students’ Union Manikganj District Unit with the slogan “All misrule will be an end, call for liberation throughout the spirit of youth” on Monday. Comrade Haripad Sutradhar, the prominent dramatist of the district, announced the inauguration of the 24th district conference. under the chairmanship of the president of the organization president M. R. Liton presided over the function where general secretary M. Russell Ahmed conducted it. The main speaker was Faiz Ullah, president of the central parliament of Dhaka University’s meritorious students’ organization. Bangladesh Farmers Association Central Committee Vice-President Hero Freedom Fighter Advocate Azaharul Islam Arju, Bangladesh Communist Party CPB Manikganj District Branch President Professor Abul Islam Sikdar, Bangladesh Students Union Manikganj District Sangsad Former President Md. Nazrul Islam etc. spoke. Bangladesh Teachers Association Manikganj District Branch General Secretary Comrade Mujibur Rahman Master, youth leader Comrade Arshed Ali Master and poet Shafiq Salim etc.
Durga puja preparatory meeting held

A preparatory meeting for smooth holding of the upcoming Saradiya Durga puja was held at the Conference Room of Superintendent of Police (SP) Netrakona on Monday. The meeting was held between the police officers and Hindu community leaders under the chairmanship of SP Netrakona Foyaz Ahmed. The meeting discussed matters related to preparatory steps for taking tight security measures and ensuring communal and social harmony and maintaining law and order during the forthcoming Durga puja festival.
Speaking at the meeting, the SP Foyaz Ahmed informed that Netrakona police administration has designed a fool-proof security arrangement for smooth holding of upcoming Saradiya Durga Puja across the district. The SP called upon the community leaders to play responsible and positive roles for ensuring peace and harmony during the puja festival by averting any untoward incident. The meeting was addressed, among others, by president of district Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikkya Parishad Advocate Sitangso Bikash Acharya, chief adviser of district puja celebration committee Nirmol Kumar Das, deputy director of Islamic foundation Netrakona Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman , convener of district Imam and Olema parishad Moulana Mohammad Younus Ali and additional SP Faqruzzaman Juwel.
