Prize distribution held in BRU

Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University (Bru), Rangpur Prof. Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid said that the most despicable and brutal murder in the history of human civilization that took place on August 15, 1975 has humiliated us as a Bengali nation in the world court. Our image in the international arena has been fatally tarnished. He said this in the speech of the Chief Guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the essay competition organized by Begum Rokeya University on the occasion of the National Morning Day. Under the Chairmanship of Md. Gazi Mazharul Anwar, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof Dr. Prof Sarifa Salwa Dina and Treasurer Mojib Uddin Ahmad were present there. VC said in her speech that the new generation should practice proper history. Treasurer Professor Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahmad said, being able to move forward with the ideals of Bangabandhu and the spirit of the liberation war will be the national interest. In the Essay Competition, Begum Rokeya awarded prizes to 18 students who won the first, second and third positions from 6 faculties of the University. Bru National Mourning August 2022 Committee Secretary and Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Department Md. Nuruzzaman Khan conducted the ceremony, Faculty of Arts Dean Professor Dr. Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman, President of the Teachers’ Association and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Md. Shariful Islam, Controller of Examinations and Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Professor Dr. Md. Matiur Rahman, General Secretary of Berobi Teachers’ Association Syed Anwarul Azim, General Secretary of Officers’ Association Mohammad Ali and teachers-students and officers-employees of various departments were present.

2 shops gutted in Mongla

Two shops were gutted completely and 2 others were gutted partially when a big fire broke out in Chaterhat village market within Chila Union under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat on Friday according to a report received here. The fire originated from a burning end of a cigarette, it was ascertained by Mongla Fire Service. It is learnt from the locals and the fire affected shopkeepers that the fire broke out in the morning at about 7-30 am, spread to the adjacent shops and went out of control within moments. Being informed of the matter a fire service unit rushed to the spot from Mongla and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for about one hour. But in spite of that a grocery shop and a go-down of cotton were gutted completely and a grocery go-down and poultry feed shop gutted partially. The loss of fire is estimated at Tk.20 lakh by the affected shopkeepers.  

826 sacks fertiliser seized in Karimganj

The Karimganj Upazila Administration has conducted a drive and seized at least 826 sacks of DPA fertilizer from dealer Mostafa’s godown at Nansree bazar uder Joyka Union in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj on Thursday. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate, AC land Mahmuda Begum Sathi.The mobile court also fines Tk 25,000 .UNO in Karimganj Palash Kumar Basu confirmed the matter to the New Nation. He also said that the businessman had illegally stored artificial fertilizers in his godown during the planting season.
Such information came to the Upazila Administration on Thursday .
