DC inspects under-construction houses for landless

Bhola DC ) Tawfiq-E-Lahi Chowdhury has visited 142 houses of the third phase of the shelter project under construction as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina among the homeless at Borhanuddin in Bhola. On Sunday afternoon, he visited houses under construction in Sachara, Qutuba and Tobgi Unions of the upazila. At that time Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tawfiq-E-Lahi Chowdhury checked the quality of the goods under construction. Expressing satisfaction over the selection of house space, he directed the local administration to be careful not to use substandard bricks, sand, cement and tin in any way. During the inspection, Upazila Chairman Abul Kalam Azad, Upazila Executive Officer Saifur Rahman, Upazila Engineer Shyamal Kumar Gain, Upazila Vice Chairman Rasell Ahmed, Qutuba UP Chairman Nazmul Ahsan Jobayed, Tobgi UP Chairman Jasimuddin Hawladar, Municipal Councilor Selim Reza, Upazila Project Implementation Officer ShohelHossain and Senior officials of district administration were present.

Day laborer killed by lightning

One agriculture day laborer was killed by lightning and injured one at Phulbari upazila in Kurigram at noon on Saturday (May 14).The deceased was identified as Rahim Badsha 48 son of Abul Kashem of Kamalpur Bottola village of former enclave Dashearchara.The injured day laborer Motiar Rahman son of Kamal Uddin in the same village was immediately taken to Phulbari upazila Health Complex for treatment. Now he is free from danger. Abdul Khaleque, Moti Miah and Abdus Samad of the village said Rahim Badsha along with 12 laborers were contracted and harvesting the Boro paddy of the land of local farmer Abu Bakar. At the end of harvesting, they were preparing to bring those paddies. Suddenly it was raining heavily and at one stage thunder bolt struck Rahim Badsha. He was immediately taken to Phulbari upazila Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead. Officer-in-charge of Phulbari Police station Bazlur Rahman ensured the incident.

Body of driver recovered in Lalpur

Police recovered the dead body of Milon Hossain (30), a driver of an autovan, from Ghatchalian of Lalpur Upazila on Sunday evening. The miscreants killed him after snatching his autovan. Milon Hossain is a son of Fakhrul Islam in Mahishbhanga village of Baraigram upazila. According to police and family sources, 15 days ago, Milon bought the autovan and used the new autovan to rent with passengers in Bonpara area. He left the house on Saturday afternoon in search of rent, but he did not come back at the house at night. As a result family members fell in sad. Later on Sunday morning, relatives of the victim informed to police about the matter.
