One arrested with firearms

Members of RAB-14, Bhairab camp have arrested one person with firearms from Harashpur area of Harashpur union of Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. He is Mohammad Shah Alam, 30, son of Mohan Miah of Meherpur village in Dharmaghar UP of Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district on Friday. An expedition team of RAB 14 Bhairab Camp under the Direction of Additional Superintendent of Police, Senior Assistant Director Company Rafiuddin Jobayer conducted a raid on the paved road in front of Harashpur Union Parishad of the upazila on the basis of secret information. At that time, one shooter gun and 5 rounds of pistol bullets were recovered from the arrested accused. Legal action has been taken against the arrested accused along with the recovered firearms.

Deer released in Sundarbans

After being chased by a Royal Bengal tiger a tender aged spotted deer of Sundarbans entered into a human habitation under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat was caught and released in Sundarbans on Wednesday according to report received here. It is learnt from a source of the Forest Department informed that on Tuesday night two tender aged deer of Sundarbans under Dhansagar Forest Office in the Eastern Division of Sundarfbans (in Bagerhat district) entered into Pashchim (West) Rajapur village of the Upazila after being chased by a Royal Bengal tiger. In the following morning villagers found them in a field of the village where they were grassing. Then they (villagers) tried to catch them. But being chased one of them backed to the forest crossing the adjacent Bhola River and the other took shelter in a bushy place of the village. Being informed of the matter the forest guards of Dhansagar Forest Office came to the spot, recovered it (deer) and took it to the forest office and later, it was released in Sundarbans.

Drug dealer arrested with Yaba

A drug dealer with 105 pitch yaba was arrested in the operation of the Narcotics Control Department on Saturday The operation was conducted under the leadership of Phanna ‘B’ Circle, Ishwardi Inspector Chhanwar Hossain. Drug officer Mostafizur Rahman said that 105 pitch yaba were recovered from drug dealer Jiban Hossain, 35, son of late Golbar Hesen and he was arrested in a raid in Piyarakhali area of the city on the basis of secret information. Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman Asad said a case has been registered against the accused under Section 36 (1) Table-14 (b) of the Narcotics Control Act.

Ashtami bath held at Hossainpur

The Ashtami Snan (Bath), a hindu religious ritual, is being performed at Kishoreganj s Hossinipur in the waters of the old Brahmaputra. Hossionpur with thousands of devotees throng the river bank every year with a belief that the dip would purify their sins. This year’s bath started at 7 30 am Saturday.
