BARI holds training workshop, exhibition

The Entomology Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has arranged a field training workshop and exhibition on bio pesticide titled ‘Insects and diseases management by using bio pesticide based technology in fruits and vegetables’ at the research field of the Entomology Division on Monday. The programme was funded by ‘development and expansion of bio-rational based integrated pest management technologies of vegetables, fruits and betel leaf project’, was attended by scientists, extension workers, representatives of various organic pesticide manufacturing companies and farmers. BARI Director General Dr. Debasish Sarker inaugurated the field training workshop and exhibition of bio pesticide as chief guest. BARI Director (Research) Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam presided over the function while Director (Support & Services) Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of Gazipur Mr. Md. Saiful Islam were present as special guests. Chief Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta gave the welcome address while Senior Scientific Officer of the division Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman Sarker conducted the function.
Miscreants attack contractor’s house in Bagerhat

A residential house belonging to a promising contractor named H M Suman situated at the VIP Road of Bagerhat district town was attacked by a gang of armed and organized miscreants at Friday mid night. But their mission could not be materialized as the inmates of the house woke up and raised a hue and cry for getting help from the neighboring people. It is stated that the gang comprising 08 (eight) members wearing same dress raided the house after leaping over the outer wall and began to cut the window grilles. Two of them had fire arms. Fortunately on hearing the sound of the window grilles inmates woke up and cried out loudly for help. On hearing the cry as soon as the neighboring people rushed to the spot the miscreants fled away. Now it is the question raised in the minds of the inmates why the armed miscreants raided the house either to loot it or to kill its owner. Faruq Talukdar, local Poura Councilor told, there are a good number of Govt. offices and the busiest area. So, the matter should not be taken lightly.
Zahidur Rahman joins as new UNO in Shibalaya

The new UNO of Shibalaya Upazila has joined the post. Zahidur Rahman. Zahidur Rahman, who replaced the outgoing UNO Jasmine Sultana, was appointed Deputy Director in the Prime Minister’s Office by the Bangladesh Development Authority. Shibalaya Upazila Chairman Rezaur Rahman Khan, Vice Chairman Miraj Hossain Lalon, Runa Akter, AC (Land) Mahbubur Rahman, District Council Member MA Quddus BA, Newly elected Teota UP chairman Md. Mosharaf Hossain, Uthali UP Chairman Md. Abbus Ali, Ulail UP ChairmanAnisur Rahman,Arua UP Chairman Monayem Hossain Khan Anik, Mohadepur UP Chairman Md. Shahjahan, Shimulia UP Chairman Zahir Uddin Manik, Divisional Officers at the reception ceremony of the joining and departing officers of the new UNO at the UNO Office on Sunday. Employees, party leaders, journalists and representatives of various classes and professions were present.

1.64 lakh masks donated to District Administration

BRAC has handed over 164,000 reusable eco-friendly 3-layer cloth masks to the Sylhet district administration under the ‘National Face Mask Wear Campaign Project 2021-2022’. The process of handing over the masks was completed through a ceremony held recently in the conference room of the Sylhet DC
Sylhet DC Md Mujibor Rahman was present as the Chief Guest. While accepting the mask, he said that everyone should be made more aware of wearing the mask and following the health rules and he requested all concerned to work in this regard.
