Awareness meet held at Lalmonirhat

Social Development Foundation (SDF) organized a informative meeting on the Resilience Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Improvement Project at Lalmonirhat DC Conference Room on Monday. DC Abu Jafar was the Chief Guest. SDF Director Operations Golam Farooq presided over the meeting. Deputy Director of Local Government Department Rafiqul Islam was the special guest. Mokhlesur Rahman, Regional Manager presented the activities of the project. Open discussion spoke by freedom fighter SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu, Principal Shafiqur Rahman, Deputy Director of Youth Development Department Abdul Majid, Upazila Parishad Chairman Kamruzzaman Sujan and others. Under this project, rural poor and ultra-poor people will be involved in income generating activities in 21 unions of 3 upazilas of Lalmonirhat district, food security will be ensured, rural micro infrastructure will be constructed and repaired. District and upazila level officials, people’s representatives, teachers, NGO representatives and journalists were present there.

Final of RNP Friendship Badminton held

 The final of the winter badminton tournament was held at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. The final match of “RNP Friendship Badminton Premier League-2022” and prizes were distributed on Monday evening at the project site office. In the final, Russian contractor Rosem Tim defeated another rival Russian contractor Reinwald Red 2-1 to become the champion. Rooppur Project Site Engineer Ashraful Islam was the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony of the tournament organized under the theme “Unity is the Pillar of CRNP”. Meanwhile, Deputy Project Director (Site) Hasinur Rahman, Ishwardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. P.M. Imrul Kayes, JSC ASE Director M. V. Letisev and IRF Commander Lt. Col. Zahid Iqbal, PSC were present as guests. In his concluding remarks, Chief Guest Engineer Ashraful Islam said that the construction work of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, the largest project in the country, is moving forward by working with healthy body and mind. And there is no substitute for sports in building a healthy body and mind.

Mango trees full of buds

 Mango buds have started appearing on the trees in Hossainpur of Kishoreganj this season as compare to other years. Some trees are covered with mango buds. However, since most of the trees have buds, the crazy smell of those buds is spreading around. Mango orchards with the humming of bees humming in the trees and the chirping of different birds. Mango buds come out in bunches on the tops of the stalks in the green space. However, local mango growers are hoping for higher mango yield if the weather is favorable in the country. On the spot, 6 unions of the upazila and one municipality, in different rural areas, in the backyards of houses, on the banks of ponds, on the side of the road, trees are full of mango buds. It’s like a great combination of yellow and green. The stalks of each tree are covered with buds. Rahim of Sidla Union and Mostafa, a mango farmer of Shahedal Union, said their mango trees were full of buds. Since the arrival of buds, they have started primary care.
