Yogurt Fair held in Tarash

The traditional Yogurt Fair was held at the Helipad Ground adjacent market in Tarash Upazila on Saturday. This yoghurt fair has been in vogue since ancient times on the occasion of Saraswati Puja. There are chira, muri, jhuri and other items. Although this yoghurt fair was held on the occasion of Swaraswati Puja, Hindus and Muslims have come to this fair to buy yoghurt forgetting the differences. About half a hundred yogurt shopkeepers have come. Asked about the yoghurt fair, Ashutosh Sanyal, President of the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Unity Council, a resident of Sadar, said while buying yoghurt at the fair he had heard that this yoghurt fair has been held since the time of ancient king Ram Mohan Roy. Shafiul Haque Bablu, a lecturer at Tarash Women’s College and former general secretary of Tarash Press Club said that he come to this fair every year to buy yoghurt.

Pitha Festival for orphans held

A cake festival was organized on Saturday afternoon in Kishoreganj for helpless orphans. Social Worker Advocate Hamidul Alam Chowdhury( Newton), a lawyer of the Apex Court, organized this exceptional cake festival at the Government Children’s Family (Girls) premises in Kishoreganj town. The girls of the government children’s families are treated with such kind of cake. 100 orphans happily taste all kinds of this pitta. Among others, Deputy Director (DD)in Social Welfare Department Kazi Kamruzzaman, CAB District President Alam Sarowar Tito, Social Welfare Officer Monir, SV.Govt.Girls’ School Headmaster Shahnewaz Kabir, Jubu Mohila League District President Salma Haque, Shaheen Sultana Etti, and Joyeeta Taniya Islam were present there.

One killed in motorcycle accident

A 22-year-old man named Kaushik Chakraborty klled in a motorcycle accident at Panchbibir Radhanagar area of Joypurhat on Saturday night. He is the son of Japan Chakraborty of Krishi Bank Mahalla of the city. Panna (24), son of agriculturist Rostam Ali, was also seriously injured in the accident. According to the locals the two youths were seriously injured after collided with a nearby tree on the road on their way to Radhanagar area around 10 pm. Kaushak died on the way to the hospital. The injured Panna was admitted to Rangpur Hospital. Officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station Palash Chandra Dev confirmed the incident.
